Still finalizing a few specifics (color, pickguard), but definitely getting some Nordies put in there. This is gonna ROCK!!!!

Love how Laklands are putting their own touch instead of being straight-up "Fender clones." The P5 looks almost like a single-cut, what with that small cutaway and all!

i dig that one, matt. Look at the classic '51 p-bass with the single coil pickup. That's a classic look that he could cop.
Randy, it does already have the tele style control plate... maybe stil with that and the all natural as your classic look?

just have the guard modified a bit so it isn't covering the upper horn so much.

Yep, I think it's just a question of how relevant is the difference to your particular ears?

Definitely all things factor in & can be eq'ed one way or another, but then there's ears too.

Drunk or not, it's what the player hears. Some even say they can hear the difference in clay dots vs. abalone.

Ever heard the difference between humid days and dry?? I prefer low humidity days .

Assuming you're going with a Skyline, I think rosewood looks better with a sunburst and maple with a black. As for sound, if you look back a few pages, there's some debate whether the fretboard wood makes any difference.

Thanks. Because I am considering for getting the JO5 (natural / Maple) now or wait 2 weeks for the DJ5 (pearl white / RW)...
But DJ5 is around $2xx USD more.

That's awesome, reminds me of my 78 Ibby P. The pickguard is in two pieces like that and I love the way it looks w/ the big part off w/ just the "control plate" remaining.
