how did it get surface cracks?well, I'm sending the Fretless DJ back in to have an acrylic coating put on the fingerboard. After three nights of long gigs (Total of around 10-11 hours use), the fingerboard has taken a beating. Attribute that to my very heavy left hand. Before I destroy the board I'm going to get it protected. I guess, now, there will always be some surface cracks on the board, but it's not too noticeable and the tone won't be impaired by them. I'm just nervous about how the acrylic count affect the tone. I love the tone as it is now, but oh well. It'll still be great, just a little different.
It's still going to be my #1... maybe in a year or two, I'll have another fretless DJ made for me as a backup. I already have it spec'd out![]()
have them sand it before coating it, to take the wear off.
they would probably do it automatically
