Official Markbass Club Pt. 2

Just had my first gig with my newly added 2nd Traveler 151P last night. The markbass rig just sounds so clean on stage, I barely had to use either of the filters and left the EQ just about flat (a slight bass boost and high mid cut) The LMII just picks up every nuance of my old P-bass with flats just as well as any great tube amp I've used.

But you should hear THIS combo!

I got to play out last night with my Minimark and NY604. Everyone was playing through the PA but me, and I had to keep turning down! What made the night even better is I had to walk a few blocks to the gig from where I parked. I put my bass on my back, Minimark in my left hand, and NY604 in the right hand! Walked there in one trip without even breaking a sweat!
Markbass has gotten me wanting to gig more now because of how light wieght this stuff is!

Plus it sounded killer!!!

Sweet little rig there Scott!
I was just wondering, do you run the minimark sideways like that? I heard from someone that amplifiers are not meant to be operated on their sides. Don't know if this is true or not.

Yes, I have always left it on its side since I got the the NY604 cab. I got an electronics degree, and I can't think of what harm could be done to a solid state amplifier like this. I am also pretty sure that this class amplifier has nothing heavy enough that the circuit board couldn't handle the stress of its components pulling on it because it was laid on its side.

But then again.... I don't use my degree because I wasn't good at it :hiding:

I think this dates back to the tube amp days due to their filaments. There is NO problem operating a solid state amp in any physical position UNLESS the design is such that it heavily relies on a specific position for convection based cooling due to vent locations (with no fan assist), but I would think that's rare.

I have two questions for the markbass savvy consumers in this thread:

Question the first: I have absolutely FALLEN IN LOVE with the F1 head I just got from GC. I've been using their 30 day guarantee to try every markbass amp there is, and I've found the most natural, warm, and punchy sound that I have ever heard. I love it... but then there's the F500. Can anyone assure me that I won't lose that gorgeous sound if I order that F500? I could really use the flexible midrange eq because one of my main church stage gigs has terrible room modes that I need to notch out. It would be the perfect amp, but I'm not willing to sacrifice that beautiful sound.

Question B: Is there a cab of similar size and weight to the Traveler 151P that matches the F1/F500 sound? I have the Trav 151p now, but I can't get my hands on the Schroeder 1515 or 1215 to hear them and try them on some stages. Can anyone help me?

Edit: And by the way... do I get a number for the club?:p
