This is why you're a much better Markbass Club president than I was, although it was my idea to make the Devo energy dome the club's official hat. Jeez, dual-use Speakon/1/4" jacks! Technology really rocks!

P.S. I used to have a really nice EBS HD350, but the LMII is a lot punchier in a mix. For slap, the EBS is a little sweeter, but IMHO that's about all it's really great for.

I went from a TD650 to my LMII (still have the TD. It's for sale here in Holland :smug:). I absolutly love the mids and punch it puts out compared to the 650. Can't wait for my new Epifani cab to arrive :D

I'm trying to narrow down a small bass head. I'm considering the MB F1 (red). Other than the red, which I think is particularly cool, what can some owners tell me?

tone? What did you replace (your old rig) when you got your MB or, even better, your MB F1? Reliability? Durability?

Please help!

SUNN 300T head=80 pounds + Yorkville Xc808= 110 pounds for a total of close to 200 pounds.......

Got the LMK 11= 7 pounds + 104 HF= 65 pounds for a total of approx. 75 pounds.....

Tone...... even better and cuts trough better in live situation...

My back is saved !!!!!

I'm using the F1 as my primary gigging head at the moment, replacing a TF550b and a Glock Heart Rock. It's tight, clean, loud, VERY well made, seems reliable (no systematic complaints of failure), very powerful tone controls, etc. I totally dig it for my modern, quick, clean tone goals. The LMII sounds a touch different (a little wider and warmer), but is close enough in tone that if you dig the F1 you would most probably dig the LMII at about $250 less if you are on a budget.

I had a rack with a Sansamp RBI and a QSC PLX1202 going through an Epi UL-410(2). I bought the LMII to try as I was not happy with the tone I was getting with the rack. I played like 5 notes and everyone in the band including me was like "Whoa, that is punchy!" I quickly sold all the stuff in my rack (Thanks, Thud!) and bought the F1. I now use the F1 as my main amp and bring the LMII as a backup. At practice I switch between them. The F1 through the UL-410 is awesome. Very punchy and clear. Reliable....Yes, Durable....Yes! I just ordered the Rackears for it from GC on Friday so I can mount it in a small SKB rack. Very cool! Good Luck finding a Red one. They were a limited run.
At any rate, the F1 is a great little amp that packs a big punch!

I used to play an Ampeg B2R with an SVT210HE, Now I play a mark bass with an Acme or whatever cab I get in a studio, while travelling around london i need something portable and the F1 does the job only problem is that sometimes I get cabs that don't go as deep as the f1, this resulting in poor lows, but that's life, I getting a new cab built for me and that's going to be super light.

I use an FMR Really Nice Compressor, and it works just as well as any other amp with a compressor. I use it at line level, though, not in the loop. Never have been a fan of effects loops for the most part.

Vic, they are pictured on the Markbass site under the accessories section. The LMII rack ears are a little strange, since that head is slightly smaller than two full rack spaces. So, the LMII rack ears go from full two rack space at the edges to the smaller height of the actual head.

Since the F1 is a true one rack space height, the F1 rack ears look like standard rack ears, with no space or anything above or below them like the LMII has close to the head (I think that's right!).

All the larger units, including the SD800, come with rack ears. I assume the logic of the LMII and F1 not coming with rack ears is that the vast majority of purchasers of those very small units would not be interested in bolting them in a rack that is twice as heavy and 5 times their size. However, for those who want to do that, the rack ears are available through GC now.

Edit: Another cool thing about the Markbass heads is that they all have high quality screw on rubber feet, versus those cheezy plastic stick on type found on many amps (even much more expensive ones). That makes it very easy to take them off for rack mounting, and putting them back on if you take the unit out of the rack. Nice!

Actually, Ken I think you should outfit yours with some of those stick-on rubber feet, and while you're at it, add some of those chicklet buttons you love so much. Can't have too many of those, you know... ;)
