+1...I rarely even post about my love for the LMII now, because I don't want to be seen as some crazy Markbass cult member. But MAN that thing sounds good!!!

Everyone who picks up my TA 501 head for the first time is astonished at how light it is. Then when I tell them it's 500 watts, they're even more astonished. I really couldn't be happier, especially when I'm moving the 106HF cab around. It weighs what seems to be around half as much as my old Ampeg 215.

I've had a CMD 102P since November. I absolutely love the tone and the portability. I had a few problems with it early on, and swapped it out for another one just like it. Haven't had any problems with it. I'm seriously considering adding a 15" Markbass cabinet to it and then selling my very heavy (but great-sounding) rack system. That way I could use just the combo amp for smaller gigs, and add the 15" for larger rooms.

However, I've noticed that a lot of you guys don't care for the Markbass cabinets. You like the head, but pair it with Epiphany's or something else. So here are my questions:

Have any of you paired up the 210 Combo Amp with a MB 115 cab; and if so, are you happy with that combination?

Any thoughts on how the MB line will stand up to the test of time? In other words, I'm a little gun-shy about having that as my main rig, since several people have said theirs has cut out on them unexpectedly. (My first one did as well.) Like I said, I love the tone and portability, but wonder about the long-term reliability. Have any of you been using them for a couple years or longer? Thanks.

I just got a MB 102P and I'm curious what kind of problems you had so I could be aware. Right now my amp seems fine.

Also, a couple of pages back in this thread there is TB'er who has the exact setup you are inquiring about, a MB102P and MB 15in cab. You may want to look and PM him.

As far as I know all Markbass cabinets have tweeter control which can be used to turn it off, of course. The combos however do not equipped with a that control - the tweeter is always on. If you go separate head + cabinet you're OK.

As for reliability, I own a CMD 121p combo, a 102p cab and an F1 head. Never had a problem with any of them.

I have a CMD 102P combo with a 104 HF cab as my main amp, and the results are astonishing. I gig them very regularly, and I've never heard a peep out of them (in any bad way) and they're built like a Mac truck. Best sound I've had in years, easy to carry, killer looking, and I run an 8 pedal setup on my board and this setup sound awesome with all my effects. I like the Markbass cabs every bit as much as the heads; I think people just like to mix and match sometimes.

Which effects are you using if I may ask ?

I'm asking all of this because I'm thinking to buy MarkBass as quality rig that will last me a couple of years and I'm planing to use fuzzes/dists and don't want any hiss.

Thanks for the tip, LM. Here's what happened with mine. Soon after I got it, I was playing it at home. I decided to try it in the tilt-back position after playing it "normally" for awhile. So far, so good. But then when I placed it back into the "normal" flat-on-the-floor position (VERY gently, I might add), it lost all sound. Believe me, I could not have lowered it into the flat position any more gingerly than I did. After turning it off for a minute or two, then back on, it was fine.

Then the first time I took it to band practice, after about an hour and a half, it started make loud, screeching, staticky noises. I had to shut it down. I figured I'd have to run through the board, but we ended up taking about a 10 minute break. After the break, it was fine again.

I was talking to the guy at GC who sold it to me, and he offered to swap it out for an identical one on the floor. So I did. I've had the replacement about 2 months now, and (knock on wood), no problems with it.

I'm really in love with the tone, power, and portability; and would like to add the 15" to use as my main rig. I'm just a bit concerned about how they hold up over a period of time. I'd hate to sell my (dependable) rack system, then have to put the MB in the shop.

FWIW: I've used my CMD102P on a bunch of gigs and recording sessions since getting it last summer and it continues to work exceptionally well. It provides the kind of sound, flexibility, portability, and "kewl" factor that I wanted and has been very durable. I have been as careful with it as I am with all of my gear - which is to say that I don't baby it, but I don't throw it around like cheap crap either. The combo has been bumped, knocked over from flat to angled and back (and vice versa) accidentally, and it remains as solid and reliable as it ever was. Given my propensity for clumsiness, it's been as durable as anything I've owned.

The possibility exists for any single item - from any manufacturer - to have a loose connection, or a bad junction, or some funky mojo (not in the James Brown way, of course, which is good!). You may have been the recipient of a less than standard, top quality product - it'll happen to us all sooner or later. I will be adding a 15" Markbass cab to my rig this summer, although I don't know which specific model just yet, and I have absolutely no qualms about doing so.
