Hey guys...just wondering if any of you MB owners have had this happen to you?

Every time I turn my rig on, I get a louder-than-hell popping sound from my speakers. I ain't kidding...it moves air!!

The amp sounds great and I love the HUGE array of different tones the modern/classic/blend is capable of, but I'm afraid that the pop will damage the speakers and that it may be a symptom of some other problem.

I've made a habit of turning all of my volumes down before I power down, but even when I do, it still pops when I power back up!

Any ideas? It's an MB450 into a MBC410 and MBC115. I use the supplied power cord run through a fused power strip. Thanks in advance...E207

The warranty center said they were able to duplicate the "gunshot", but nothing inside the amp was amiss, so they called Marshall, who said it was a "normal occurrence" with solid state power amps, but I'm skeptical.

Why would the warranty center lie, because they make money from Marshall when they fix something, thus in this case they made nothing.

1963 Marshall SuperBass here. It's only 50 watts, but I've never needed more volume with it. It has a tube rectifier which I'm told is what gives it the glorious sag and immense phatness. It also has pretty huge character, having survived a house fire that scorched the exterior pretty badly but somehow left the guts intact.

My MB450h makes a small popping sound. Nothing I could describe as a gunshot tho. I would say that unless you see "magic smoke" or wierd smells/sparks, not to worry. From what I hear, SWR gear makes loud pops too.

Well here is my very first post!

Just taken delivery of my MB4210, fresh in the box loveliness.

Bit of a long story how I got this amp, I formed my first band on bass with a mate and didn't have an amp. I needed something cheap and easy so I bought a BEHRINGER (never again!) BXL3000A, sure enough after a matter of weeks it blew.

I didn't have a receipt (lost it!) but took it back to he shop on a hope and prayer, they took my amp and promised me a call.

Sometime later the call actually came and the guy told me it was a blown speaker, I told him it was due to the 200w speaker and 300w head and I didn't want a replacement. He asked me to take a look on their site and I spotted this baby, for £90 more it seemed too good to miss sO I asked him to order me one in.

2 weeks and a lot of worrying later I received an Email telling me it was ready for despatch, he sent it me out yesterday, received today and no invoice for the £90! Looks like I just got this amp, brand new, for £220!!
