Official Orange Club II

I haven't tried it, but those are such good sounding cabinets, I would have to think it would sound pretty good. Only downside is you'd only be running at 250w. (@ 8 ohm). Given the weight of the OBC115, I think it's easier with 2 x OBC112's. They are nice and light and you can carry 2 at a time and you can set the head army 4 ohm for the full 500w.

If you're shopping for a single cab to use with your TB500, a good option would be an Ampeg SVT212AV. It's a 2x12 cab that is rated 600w and is a 4 ohm cabinet.

Whats the consensus on a OBC115 as a standalone cab paired with a Terror Bass?
I love a 115 by itself. I often use my AD200B with a single Fender Bassman Pro Neo 115 , and it's superb. Not that I've used a OBC115 but from what I've read, I think the Fender 115 is quite similar.
I'd be careful with the amount of power that the TB500 could send to a single 115 cab, it's a powerful li'l amp that. but use ur head, and yr ears, you should be fine.
I often use an Aguilar TH500 with the Bassman 115 and it's really good too. Again, just be judicious with the amount of power you send it.
Sounds great tho

Got a gig next month with an OB1-300 provided as backline, I don't usually use anything other than my own heads but it'd be very convenient to use a house amp for this one.

Am I correct in assuming there's no effects loop on these? If not, what's the flat setting on the EQ, the same 0-10-0 as the Terror, or something different?

Will have minimal changeover and line check time so would like to go into it as preoared as possible.

Afaik the OB1 has active EQ, similar to Ampeg etc. not the 'passive" EQ like the AD200B and TB500
I've not used it tho, and, of course could be wrong

TB500 cutting out, anyone experienced this and is there a solution?

I have a TB500 running into two OBC112's set at 4 ohms. I have been using this rig a lot at home at moderate volumes, gain around 12 o'clock and master volume around 9 o'clock, and have used it live a number of times, usually with the clean switch on and both the gain and master volume hovering around 12 o'clock. Always working great until last night. While playing live, the sound would cut out completely for about 3-4 seconds and then come back on at the original volume. It did this through the second half of the set.

I did let the opening band use this rig and I know he had the clean switch off and both master and gain up to around the 1-2 o'clock position. Not to mention he used a 5 string, maybe with active pickups and I think an octaver and could have been hitting the preamp hard.

Is there anything I should look for, or can do about this? I haven't had this amp very long and hate to have to buy a new one…

Bummer

I'd prob ask Orange first, see what their take is.

Yesterday we did a little session with a pro sound guy to get a good baseline on the band PA since we often don't get much of a sound check.

I brought my Terror Bass 500 (current generation), but there was a TB1000 in the space. Had to try it. To start with, it's LOUD. And, for those who say the previous generation is less versatile, I'm going to agree. Sure sounded great, though.

Here's the mighty SX Custom Handmade with the TB1000 and one of my OBC-112's. Wouldn't mind having one of these 1000's.

Did you already try patching your Effects loop with a guitar cord? If not try it and see If this instantly solves the problem.

I don't use the effects loop, but do you mean to just put in a short patch cable from send to return?
Yes, It's a very common issue with the little shunt in the return jack failing to make a good connection. That shunt is what makes the connection in-between your preamp and poweramp sections anytime your NOT using the effects loop... It's actually more of common problem for guys that don't ever use the effects loop, because the act of plugging in and out of the return jack once in a while has a self-cleaning effect of that tiny little shunt.

I've circled the shunt in this pic:

Ok, so, I would guess it can't hurt to put it there, and it sounds like it's a better way to bypass the effects loop than the built in shunt.

Also, according to the manual, it's a "12AT7 VALVE DRIVEN SEND, SOLID STATE RETURN", so since the effects loop is "tube driven" send, I wonder if there is any alteration of the tone if the tube driven send is influencing tone that gets to the power section?

Edit, actually there would be no difference as the patch cable is just a (hopefully) better version of the shunt.

I am looking for some light but powerfull cabs for my TB500. Two of the 1x12" seem to be nice, but can they go loud? On the other hand, a good 2x12" will be simmilar concerning the watts they do. I play Rock not Metal but loud. Even thinking about 3x112 and a new had with 2,7ohm. Guys, is a set of 2x112 a good thing for loud rock 'n roll ?

I'm in two bands, one is straight up rock-n-roll, a simple 3 piece and we play in standard tuning and sometimes drop D. The other is heavy stoner rock, and we play in Eb standard, drop Db, D standard, and drop C. This other band is with two guitar players. This here rig is surprisingly loud and keeps up with both bands well. I rarely have FOH support so it's all coming from these. These OBC112 cabs are light and compact and do the job well.

Anyone know if the newer version Terror Bass heads have a fan or anything that shouldn't be obstructed on the underside?

I've had issues with the amp cutting out and a power issue, all while it's been sitting on the bottom part of a hard case (as in the image), but I don't know whether this was just an unfortunate coincidence, or maybe partially responsible for it. I know the cutting out has been a fairly common issue.

I've got it repaired and so far it seems to be okay, so don't want to make a silly mistake again. It's no hardship to take it out of the case completely obviously, but the tray does make it sit more securely.
