I can't justify forking out the $$ for the AD200 (even though I really want one). Never even seen one in the flesh. And from what I've read, the TB500 is very close in comparison.
They are voiced similarly but I would say there is a noticeable difference between them. I've owned both and the TB500 is more modern sounding than the AD200B.
I would even go so far and say that the TB is more flexible.
The AD is the perfect rock machine and it can do other things too if you fancy that, but you still feel the vintage colour.
The TB1000 is overkill. I've tried it many times and I never get past 10 on the volume knob. You can not turn it past noon before feeling your bowels empty themselves.
They sound pretty good together. I don't run much gain so the sound is cleaner. Good smooth lows with enough mids to round out the sound and make it full.
I think my TB1000 will be enough for both of us, even with you being in Germany.

My TB1000 was a factory refurb, cost me slightly less than a new 500, so I figured what the heck. I has the same warranty as a new one. I also registered it on the Orange web site to extend it at n/c.
Hey man, finally got my own tube roll going in the amp, and I've found very similar results! I also have an RCA black plate in V1, although for now I've opted for a NOS Sylvania 12AX7 in V2. Not sure I need the second 5751 in there, but eventually I'll give it a try, since I bought a pair of them! Indeed it doesn't really change the character of the gain all that much, although it does seem just a little more articulate than before. Mostly I've noticed I have more room on the gain knob before the distortion really starts to ramp up. Seeing as the Gain knob controls the DI level, I feel like this will be useful for a lot of live applications; can definitely squeeze some more volume out of the DI before it starts to clip.
I'm in the middle of running some audio tests on the DI with the tube switch, so we'll see how it comes out. I recorded clips with the old tubes, gotta get around to doing the new ones now. If anybody is interested in the results, I'll try and find a way to post them!
Who here has replaced their bulb? My bulb is only working occasionally.

my bulb seems to be gone :-D unscrewed the orange thingy and there was no bulb underneath it.

For those who are interested , I emailed Orange tech support regarding replacement bulbs. Here is what they said:
"You can likely find a replacement bulb at your local auto-parts store, or possibly hardware store, Radio Shack, or online here:

If you enter "orangeamp" as a coupon code, you'll get 15% discount.
It is a Type #47 Miniature BA9S/10mm Bayonet Base (6v to 6.5v -at- 150mA to 300mA) bulb/lamp.
To replace the bulb/lamp, you'll unscrew the jewel cover with your fingers.
Then with the lamp exposed, you push in with your thumb and turn just slightly counter-clockwise to unlock the lamp.
Reverse the process to install the new bulb.

I'll take a pic of my rig next time we rehearse, but I just joined a new band and my Meatsmoke was just too filthy/way too much top end. I managed to score a Terror 500 for $400 and an Ashdown MAG810 for $200 - it levels the room! Best British/Chinese $600 rig I could have ever asked for!
