Official Orange Club II

Received my Little Bass Thing. Tried with my favorite 8 ohm 1X12. Sounds great and has no shortage of power into 8 ohms (something many similar spec'd amps have issue with). EQ sounded very good flat. Tweaked a little for each basses character. So far so good. Get to play with a jazz trio Thursday but I have no doubt this will work for me. It's that clean Orange sound. So if you like that, you should love this amp.

The notched knobs are no problem. I thought it might be but they are reasonable jumps in volume. Fan is very quiet. Chassis is pretty tough.

Looks to my untrained eye that Orange is using their own PSU/AMP in this.

Did you happen to glance at the volume control to see if the detents are a real rotary switch or do they use the perforated rotating disc with a ball bearing trick to simulate a rotary switch?

I did not. Looked like a standard potentiometer, had a QA sticker on the back and was soldered to the preamp board.

I gave the LBT a run yesterday. I get what you mean with the dents, it gets from quiet to loud with one step. The volume was not difficult to dial for practice though.
I like the tone of this amp, my bandmates were also surprised with the tone and loved the weight.
I actually liked the tone of this one better than the OB1, really transparent with just the right amount of flavor and also quite flexible. There is no gain, so it doesn't get dirty, but I use pedals for my distortion anyway. The amp plays nicely with my active and passive Basses and I like the compressor a lot! It's a keeper.
I haven't tried the FX loop or the D.I. out yet. The D.I. of my OB1 was great, so I am expecting similar results.

Sorry for the lack of pictures!

Glad you all like the LBT. It is a nice looking amp that may be similar to the 4 Stroke, or at least it seems that way. As for the detents I have seen that it is way more noticeable with certain basses as opposed to others. For an example my Squier Contemporary Active Jazz goes from off to somewhat loud on one detent while my G&L Tribute M2000 goes from off to  on one detent. That is where the volume issue occurs.

Here is an update on the AD200. I was able to get compensation from Reverb for the damage in shipping, so that was good. I was able to order all new tubes to do a full retube. 3 new Tung-Sol preamp tubes, and 4 6550 Tung-Sol power tubes. I still need to get the amp in for a bias and cleaning, but decided to give it the paces in band practice last night, and I did like what I heard. It's similar to my Fender Bassman 135, but different, more tube overdrive for sure and just lots more power. I was playing through a Carvin 1x15 which was in the spot, and I think I'll enjoy it a lot more through my Genz Benz loaded LDS 2x12. I remember a trick people use for the SVT when you have a gain and a master, you turn the master all the way up, and use Gain for volume. So I set my Master to noon, and used my gain. At about 11 o'clock on gain, we did a song and the guitarist said man you gotta turn up. So gain to about 1 or so, another song and now I'm too loud haha. I ended up with Master and Gain around noon, the Treble right at 9:00, the mids around 2-2:30 and the bass around 10:30-11.

It sounded really good, even through a subpar cabinet.

I've never had the Volume and Gain above 9:00 at practice, way to loud! But I play through six 10" speakers, I guess with 2x12 or 115 I'd be around the same values.

Had a similar "problem". This was my main rig for a bit. Baer ML115/AD200. It was usually too much. Only reason I downsized (well that and it was a good amount of real estate and weight).

I'm pretty sure at those levels out of a 6x10 you could use it to hunt small game ;). Yeah, we were loud, we are a very loud band. It's gonna be insane in the future when I add my 2nd 2x12 . I'll post pics!

just posted audio from this past practice. Now the practice was a cluster for a few reasons. Wasn't our best. But the second comment was from the drummer. We are too loud and will never get tight. We need to turn down haha.

Hey guys, was guided hear from a thread. I'm interested in getting an AD200, what would be a decent price for it and what should I look for in one?
I got this AD200 MkIII in August of this year. It was used, in very good condition, I paid $1500. I found it on Reverb. As far as what to look for? Just look for something in good shape. Local pick up preferred if possible so you can try it out. I live in a major market so it's easier to find stuff like this.

Depending on condition, anywhere between 1,2 and 1,5 would be acceptable. Testing is obviously the better option. Take transport into account if you can't. I would recommend having it checked by your tech after transport (that can range between 50 and 400 if you need new valves).

man, now I feel like I got a bit screwed. I paid $1700 (shipped) and mine is a bit beat up cosmetically. Not to mention some tubes were damaged in transit. Lucky for me, I got almost a full re-tube covered by Reverb insurance.

I paid $500 AUD ($350 USD) for mine. Ex-Eagles of Death Metal (Matt McJunkins) backline from their Aus tour. Pretty thrashed and was blowing tubes/fuses. Turns out somebody had tried to re-bias it badly and had used a totally wrong grid resistor. $50 bench cost to get it fixed :D

I also got one of Suzi Quattro's OBC810s for $1k (700 USD). It works perfectly if you don't mind a few cigarette burns in the tolex.

Now that's a bargain!
