What's up Orange addicts! I'll me on my second (two and a half?) orange amps soon. I first had a OB1 for a hot second, before buying a TB500 which I moved on from looking for a more aggressive sound. I really like the classic tube Bassman sound, and I'm picking up an AD200B to get more of that type of sound. With a little edge.

Now I'm looking at cabinets, and I know many love the combo of the AD200 with the OBC115's. My current rig is a sweet LDS 2x12 using some Genz Benz Faital 12's. My band is a alt rock power trio needing a huge sound. So I'm looking at 2 options:

1) Run a 4x12 at 8 ohms using the GB Faitals

2) Buy my old Greenboy Dually 2x15 cabinet. This was built to use with an Acoustic 370, but it would be cool to use again. But would it be "right".

Has anyone used a Dually with the AD? I'll definitely post pics when I can.

Try the AD200B with the 2x12 cab. Go from there. I got an organic (as in the sound of the string), fat sound with a good 2x12. Four 12's would sound great as would two 15's. Nothing but win here. Season to taste.

In short: More than enough rig for me right now, apparently. We play 90s Metal and Alternative covers.

Addendum to my above post – naturally the guitar player didn't play at full volume, that would have been crazy in our rehearsal space. I don't suggest two 112 could compete with two 412. But I still found it funny that, for once, I was "the loud one" in the band, with such settings already.

On post 1200 I stated that I might run the EQ pictured on my Orange 4 Stroke on my gig last night. I did run it that way with the only change being the compressor set to 1:00 for some grit.

Damn it sounded bada$$. I was getting a nice bark out of my basses and the drive was very reminiscent of my Terror Bass. Plus the amp was slamming the stage hard. Digging that amp more and more each time I play it.

Honestly I hear you on the four stroke. Took a flier in one when it was on sale and it's a really good amp with a lot of tone. I really love my Ampeg and Mesa amps but this Orange has something special. The tone shaping is awesome and the "compressor" knob just adds something.

Agree. There is a ton of tone shaping available on this amp and as I have stated before it has volume to spare. I like the compressor at lower settings to add some thickness and punch, but hadn't really tried it yet past 12:00 until this past Saturday Night. I really liked what it did at about 1:00, I got a really cool Terror Bass vibe out of it and the slam was quite addicting.

@Funk With Me I am seeing some improvement with the 210 cabs. I used my Alpha Omega with a HPF and that worked like a charm. I will most likely get the Broughton always on HPF listed above and that will most likely get it where I need.

I had forgotten that the QSC amp has built in hpf. 30hz or 50hz, I set it at 30 cuz I'm playing a 5er and I don't want to cut myself off at the knees. The rig is a bit much, but it sounds really good. I would love an opportunity to get out and crank it up.

I took a flyer on an Orange AD200B used off Reverb for what I thought was a good price. So far it's been a bit of an adventure. The seller tried to be nice and remove the tubes, but the amp wasn't completely secure. When the amp shifted in transit, it crushed the box with all the tubes! One of the preamp tubes has a bent pin, and one of the power tubes was crushed. The rest look ok. This is going to be covered under the Reverb shipping protections. And I'm asking for a new preamp and a new pair of power tubes.

If I get the tubes in, am I good to put them in and go? Or do I need a tech to do the install? The amp seems fine, but obviously without the tubes I can't run the amp to see.

I'm not an expert on these amps, but normally new power tubes require a bias adjustment by a tech if the amp doesn't have self bias features, which these don't.

If they are an exact paired Quartet, you don't need to re-bias (although it is strongly recommended). If they are "more or less matched" I would re-bias. In any case, since it was rattling during shipping, I'd let a technician run diagnostics and bias anyway.

The OB1 is gone. I sold it and pulled the trigger on the LBT.
I will try it tomorrow and let you know how it goes.

curious to hear what you think. Have come close to picking up a LBT a few times.

Enjoy! Test-driving the LBT made me smile so much I worried the top half of my head might fall off. I decided to keep the Terror Bass though, as I also use a Bass Butler, which is pretty much a LBT with additional dirt channel and no mids control.

Looking forward to what you think about the clicky dials. I initially was a fan, but then had second thoughts; now I think it's great, so yeah, on the hedge, personally.

The 4 Stroke also has the detents on the volume and compressor knobs throughout the entire range. Still don't like it during home practice, but on the gig it is no problem and the amp is a freaking beast with tone for days.

For home practice I prefer the Terror Bass which is also a beast live, but the volume knob is much more friendly at lower volume while still being able to bring it on a live stage. Killer amps.

I gave the LBT a run yesterday. I get what you mean with the dents, it gets from quiet to loud with one step. The volume was not difficult to dial for practice though.
I like the tone of this amp, my bandmates were also surprised with the tone and loved the weight.
I actually liked the tone of this one better than the OB1, really transparent with just the right amount of flavor and also quite flexible. There is no gain, so it doesn't get dirty, but I use pedals for my distortion anyway. The amp plays nicely with my active and passive Basses and I like the compressor a lot! It's a keeper.
I haven't tried the FX loop or the D.I. out yet. The D.I. of my OB1 was great, so I am expecting similar results.

Happy to hear that. I couldn't wait and ordered one. Should arrive today.

Received my Little Bass Thing. Tried with my favorite 8 ohm 1X12. Sounds great and has no shortage of power into 8 ohms (something many similar spec'd amps have issue with). EQ sounded very good flat. Tweaked a little for each basses character. So far so good. Get to play with a jazz trio Thursday but I have no doubt this will work for me. It's that clean Orange sound. So if you like that, you should love this amp.

The notched knobs are no problem. I thought it might be but they are reasonable jumps in volume. Fan is very quiet. Chassis is pretty tough.

Looks to my untrained eye that Orange is using their own PSU/AMP in this.
