Question to you guys that own the OBC410 and OBC115 such as myself...
I mostly play out with the 410, but at bigger sets I bring out the 15 cab as well. I know the 15/410 combination gets poo-pooed a lot on here, and probably with good reason, however I've used those cabs together and have been happy with the tone. That aside, my question for you guys is which cab do you prefer on the top and also which one do you prefer to mic? I've seen the 15 thrown on the bottom (I think mainly because people have an idea that the 15 will supply a "bassier" tone as opposed to the 410 - whether true or not), but I've also read around that others prefer the 15 as the top cab so that you may better hear if the 15 is straining in any way.

Put the 115 on top. In addition to being able to hear the weak link in your signal chain better, you will also have better dispersion and less comb filtering closer to your ear. You will hear yourself better.
Is the comb filtering a by-product of the different signals from the mismatched cabs (the 410 producing a slightly different sound wave than the 15?) Is that a big reason why different cab pairings are often frowned upon?

The side by side drivers in the 410 cause the comb filtering. This is why vertical alignment is used in well engineered audio set ups. There will be phasing issues due to the different response of the 10's and the 15, but that is unavoidable if you are mixing cabs. My reasoning is that I would rather have the more consistent cab closer to my ear.
I don't own an Orange and am envious of those of you who do.
I'd go with what sounds best to you and mic whichever speaker sounds like you. Since you often take only the 410, it would seem that the 10s produce the tone you like...which (to me) suggests the one you should mic.

I've been running the OBC115 on top of my OBC410 as well. I'll be running this setup until I get my second 15.
finally finished my bass ;-) Fenders fiesta red fits perfectly to the orange's orange ^^

Had both the AD200B and TB500, sold'em both. Still kept my Thunderverb (which I mainly use for guitar) but it works as a backup for bass as well (surprised how good it sounds actually!)
ALSO, for fun - I tried the Micro Terror (20w) into a 2x15, with bass. Super Lemmy-tone straight away, not much bass freq though, but it sounded cool in its own way

I notice a lot of people using the TB 500 into the OBC115, is this a problem as the cab is rated at 400w (rms I think...) and the TB 500 is 500w. Is this too much power for the cab?
Also I have 2 SP212 rated at 600w each, 1200w rms total, I'm thinking of buying the TB 500 but is this not enough to run through a 1200w stack?

I have this setup. It's great. You aren't ever going to be maxing out the TB500. I usually don't have it above 11 o'clock. Those 15's are pretty loud with the front port.
So the 500w Terror isn't too much for the 400w OBC115? Cool.
What about the Terror into the 2 SP212s? I see it as 500w into 1200w rms power handling or 250w per 600w cab. Not enough? Will this make the amp work too hard or anything?
As an aside, I've noticed my older SP212 is a little lighter then the newer one, did I read somewhere that Orange switched from neo to ceramic speakers at some point? According to the handwritten serial numbers on the back, older cab is 2009 and the newer one is 2012.

Oh how I miss that band
The TB 500 has enough power to turn that cab to ash. That said if you use your ears and what is between them, you wont damage anything. That doesnt mean you are safe running the amp full bore though.
There is no such thing as under powering a cab, so you could use a 0.5 watt amp with those cabs and they will still make sound.
That said the Iso cabs are not a very efficient design, so you might be happier with the bigger amp. Just be careful, because if you are running one cab, it is still 1000 watts on tap. Once again use your ears.
Just FYI, the position of your knobs means nothing. Depending on where you have the gain and master set, you could be at the amps limits well before the knobs are close to their "highest" point.
Some manufacturers have switched from neo to ceramic speakers, due to the increasing cost of the magnets for the speakers. I dont know if this is the case with these cabs, but I would bet a penny it is.
