So I have a gig coming up I plan on using my new AD200B for. I also just bought a Countryman type85 D.I. box for running sound to the board. I know that I connect the D.I. Between the output of the amp and the cabinet. My question is can you use the signal from the “ slave output “ into the countryman. I am a little weirded out by placing a box between the output of the amp to the speaker cab for some reason…..

Apparently you can do this. Over not done it tho.
I have put a Radial JDI (I think it is) between the amp and cab, Using speaker leads between both ... so outta the correct impedance speaker out socket, to the DI, then outta the DI to the cab.
And that all worked beautifully
I think you can connect a Dl to the slave out on the back of the AD200.
The slave out is Line level, post gain. It was used to drive slave units, which are heads with just the output stage. You can use any D.I. that handles keys or active bass, just beware of your levels.
Do they even make those “ Slave Units “ any more? I am surprised Orange hasn’t gotten with the times and installed a Pre/Post D.I. setup like the other manufactures.
Maybe it's already been discussed over the 80+ pages in this thread, but which cabs are you pairing with your AD200's? Lightweight is a must and the head cannot hang over the side of the cab. The OBC-112 seems interesting to me. Any experience with the AD200 and this cab?
They stopped making them in the 70s if I recall correctly. But you can still use that to connect to a power amp or the return of an amp with fx loop (LBT or TB). Changing the slave unit would also mean redesigning the circuit. It might not alter the sound a lot, but I guess Orange is quite pleased with the AD as it is and more focused on RDing low- and mid-priced gear that move more units. I myself would love a Pics Only AD with fx loop and DI out, but who's going to buy that?
I personally use the OBC410 and 210 with the AD. I used 2 OBC 115 in the past, but needed a more focused sound when I changed bands. I have heard only good things about the 112, I am sincerely considering getting two of them for my LBT.
I use mainly a Fender Bassman Pro Neo 115. It sounds lush thru it.

Had my AD200B and Kasino Snake Eyes 2x15 at practice the other night, man was it sweeeetness! Who ever says these aren’t loud amps is either crazy or deaf. All my mates loved what was coming out of my speakers, tube tone for days I tell ya!
Half my practice was spent with the Master dime'd and Gain to tasted, second half was Gain 1:00 and Master to taste. I think I preferred the later settings better, got some really good sounding grit and plenty of volume. Pics or it didn’t happen LOL

That looks superb.
I mostly use my AD200B with the master dimed and gain for volume.
But I cut down the size of cab if I want some grit.
Either way it is a creamy sound.
About as creamy as having 80% half and half and 20% coffee in your mug ;-)
So I’ve been really playing this Orange Crush Bass 50; I’ve been using three different basses. Lol.
I’m impressed- the Jazz sounds divine, the Jag bass with the P-pickup sounds awesome.
Even the 68 Telebass with the DiMarzio humbucker sounds good!
Finding the sweet-spot with the “Gain” and “Blend” features takes some experimentation. I’ve found a great “Creamy” setting that works well with the Jazz or the P.
Anyone else have any experience with “Blend and Gain” staging on the Orange Amps that have it?
I’ve got the (Sweet!) Orange mini pedal to switch the blend in ir out, but the volume drop is alarming if you’re getting “groovy” with the blend.
My thought is a Spark boost (or the boost on my Dapper Bass pedal) trough the FX loop to balance the volume between “Clean” and “Blend” channel.
Anyone actually have a Crush Bass 50 with the footswitch?? You really need the Orange footswitch for these- it connects with an instrument cable and has an (Orange!) LED powered from the amp- Cool!!
Here are some of the basses- lol and a Telecaster guitar- haha!

Oh- I almost never “dime” my volume on any of my basses- usually 50-75% gets nice none- a bit more for some “hair” on it…
So another practice This time with my MarkBass CL108. Man there is nothin better than a powerful tube amp through a sealed 8x10, especially one that only weighs around 75lbs LOL. I am really torn as to which cab I should use for next weekends show, good problem to have for sure.
So I need some advice and this is a little bit of a gripe against Orange. So I have had my AD200B for a little, bought it new from SweetWater. After a few practices I thought it might be a good idea to check the bias on the stock tubes. I was pretty shocked at what the readings were though. Tubes 1&3 had readings of 10-11mV and tubes 2&4 had readings of 20mV. I know tubes can be mismatched a couple of mV, but 10mV difference seems a lot to me. I had a set of JJ KT88 lying around, so I threw them in there, re-biased and all were within 19-20mV, which I consider matched. My gripe is that these tubes were not better matched coming from Orange Amps. The advice I am seeking is, should I contact Sweetwater and request a new quad of 6550’s? Mind you, the amp sounded good with the stock tubes, but at the price I payed for this thing, I expected tubes that were a little better matched than these were. Thoughts??
You can use any Marshall style switch, but the look of the mini orange switch is killer. Volume differences are because of the gain, so it is almost impossible to avoid, sadly :/
It's a hefty price tag for sure. I would stay with the 88s though, I really like the sound of them with my AD, it is slightly beefier (maybe because they are better quality tubes as factory ones).
Does it sound BETTER with the matched tubes?
I tend to treat my tube amps as .... if it ain't broke... or... if it sounds good... is good.
But, I understand your concern.
I would probably get back in touch with the retailer and voice my concerns. Etc
