I just picked myself up a Terror V2. I'm coming from the combo world, so I don't actually own any cabs. None of the cabs Orange currently makes appeal to me, as most are too heavy. I know the OBC112 exists, but I'm not interested in doing the modular 12 inch cab thing (been there done that, find it easier to just have a single larger cab of moderate weight) I'm hoping for a 210 or 115 close to 40 lbs or below. I was looking at the Ashdown neo cabs, but almost nobody on talkbass ever mentions them.

anybody have any opinions on non-Orange brand cabs that pair really nicely with Orange amps?

The Genzler NC212t is 44lbs. I think.

I use my Terror Bass with a Traynor TC115Neo. I think it has an Eminence Kappa Lite. It's a big cab and gives the speaker room to breath. Manageable weight, no tweeter and pretty efficient. Plenty of high end for me.

I use Markbass cabs with the Terror (v1, mind you). I find the mid-forward cabs pair nicely with this slightly scooped out amp. Other, flatter amps into those cabs tend to sound honky, and that Terror can sound weak in the mids when paired with the wrong cab (Traynor 10-inch loaded cabs, I'm looking at you).

Realize this advice probably doesn't exactly apply, given there are some small differences in sound between the v1 and v2 Terrors, but hopefully it's still a little helpful

I tried some Markbass cabs at guitar center a while ago, and to my ears their best sounding is actually their budget Jeff Berlin 15 inch speaker. Very meaty in the low mids, where to my ears their 10 and 12 inch cabs are a bit more high mid forward. Maybe this is the way to go.

Get the cheapest Spark Booster pedal, or something similar, to boost the output. Somebody else said this, but didn't reply to you directly.

Anyone else have an early AD200B, with the orange colored transformers? Orange used these better trannies in the ones they did for artists. They put our around 20 more watts than the stock ones, which were around 180-ish watts if I recall. These orange ones boosted output to over 200 watts. I also bought the last orange tranny at the warehouse back then, as a spare.

I've used mine most often with backline provided Ampeg 810's and recorded with an Ampeg 210 AV. While I never liked those cab with my Fender Bassman, it sounded great with the Orange.

I was referring to the early production Mk3 ones…..BUT I actually DO own one of the few original hard-wired AD200's. Mine actually hand-built by head designer Ade Emsley. Still "confused?" Also have OR200s.

I just bought a white limited addition Ampeg 210AV to go with my V2 Terror. Hoping it pairs well for home practice and recording. I'm still not sure which amp I want to combine with my Terror for the band though. I wish Orange still made those OBC210 mini cabs.

Yeah…that is what Orange used in their upgraded Mk3 heads the first couple of years, until they ran out of the orange colored ones. They used these in the heads going out to endorsers/artists on tour. A few years later, there was some clown selling fake trannies online, that he sprayed orange. Here is a pic of one of my spares I bought from Orange. This was the very last orange one left at the U.S. warehouse around 15+ years ago. I probably have the exact date on the box but I am 1,000 miles away at the moment.

Has anyone heard of any plans for Orange to make neodymium versions of any of their other cabs? I'm really not a fan of the whole modular 112 thing, and would really love either a 115 or 210 with the Orange look and sound coming in close to 40 lbs (keeping my eyes peeled for a used OBC210 mini). I would hope it would just be a matter of time, but it could also be that the whole "very heavy yet solid sounding" thing is something their fans expect these days.

Sold a bunch of gear and picked up this duo for practice sessions and maybe the occasional gig depending on the venue
