How does the tone of this stack compare to the AD200 and the 15's? Down the road my band could find ourselves touring some. If so, getting more compact and lighter gear would be a plus.
No idea, sorry but I don't have experience with anything orange other than this. I will say that this thing is beefy and can get loud. Breaks up nicely if you want it to but can get a nice warm tube clean sound if you'd rather have that. I have read other people say (in this thread probably) it is very similar to the ad200b which it is based off of. The obc12's are rear ported with one single port much like the obc410 it no tweeter so they may be more similar tonally but I'm just guessing by the look of them and have nothing to back it up.
More EQ range. Along with more flexibility on the input gain. The V1 got dirty pretty quick and the EQ range was very limited. V1 was receptive to tube rolling and you could get a little more flexibility with the right tubes. A little more.
The V2 EQ works the way you would expect an amp to work. If that makes sense.
The EQ is pretty similar to the AD though the AD has this low end… uh…. Girth? That seems ever present Cool amp but got dirty pretty fast when pushing it. No DI out which is annoying to me.
The Orange 15's might be one of the best built cab's I've owned. That said they use (or used to use) Eminence Kappa speaker, which are great but have very limited high end. I ended up with a Kappalite in mine and it was the bomb but just made it a more expensive cab. The stock speakers seem to work for people who want or prefer a super dirty sound with little high end. This is coming from someone who owns several bass cabs, none have tweeters.
Offer made, offer countered, counter accepted, card charged. Making a coast to coast trip (NH > WA), hope to see it this time next week.

Haha enjoy! I mostly play ampless nowadays, but every time I can fire up my Terror stack (TBv2 + still 2x OBC112) I can't stop grinning.
Should you test-drive the amp, keep in mind the tone stack is Fender-style, i.e. Bass and Treble are boost-only, Mid is cut-only. Everything at 12 o'clock provides quite the bathtub which sounds great depending on your bass guitar, or very anemic. "Flat" is more like Bass+Treble around 7-8 o'clock, Mid around 4-5 o'clock.
I could be sorely mistaken, but my understanding is that the v2 Terror does *not* use that particular tone stack; what you describe is the v1. As @aproud1 was saying, the newer Terrors have an EQ that actually cuts and boosts all bands.
I use a v1 Terror still, and yes, swapping tubes definitely made a difference. I wanted a bit more room to play with from the Gain knob's "edge-of-breakup" territory, so put a 5751 in v1; only about 70% of the gain as a 12AX7, so added more clean and clean-ish headroom. And it was nearly 10yrs ago, but I got me one of those head cases as well. Though I needed a different colour scheme to "match" the look... (orange and yellow. Yum.)

I have the purple version for my office and really enjoy it. Can keep up with a drummer, electric guitar and vocals through a small PA.
flat is treble at minimum, mids at maximum, and bass at the first tick (nudged up a little from minimum), that's standard fender tone stack.
my understanding is that it's the exact same tone stack, it says "more like the ad200" well the ad200 is the fender tone stack lol. I think they just put more high end inherently into the stack, whereas the v1 was darker, that's all. The clean switch is cool, and is a nice bonus, also the DI is the correct level, apparently v1 some of them DI level was too hot.
As for the difference between terror bass and ad200, I owned both and the terror bass is way more punchy and tighter due to the solid state power amp. The ad200 has more heft, a little bigger feel.

Who knew that after 35+ years of playing bass and finally getting a new hybrid amp (TB500), that I'd have to learn a bunch of new tube amp stuff? Like let the tubes warm up in standby for a few min, or, don't leave the amp on standby to long, or, get yourself a Neutrik speakon speaker cable as others are inferior, or, don't turn the amp on without a cab plugged in (why would I?), etc etc.

I should have the TB next Wednesday and I'm looking to get a speakon cable as well. I see one by GLS Audio that uses Neutrik ends, so that should be fine.
Aside from all the tube amp specific things noted above, anything else I should know? I've read through the recent thread by @baxter_x, which is great, but want to make sure I'm not missing anything obvious or important.

Great news! My used, new-to-me TB500 is scheduled to arrive today!
Not so great news! My new speakon speaker cable is scheduled to arrive... Wednesday, the original delivery date of the amp.
So-so news! I can go purchase a speakon cable locally and cancel the other incoming cable.
In other news, I know I read it upthread, but can someone confirm that I can run DI out from the TB500 without having a cabinet connected?

You always need to have a speaker cabinet connected when using the head. Here is the link to the manual. It's super important to read through it. Terror Bass Manual – Orange Amps
Perhaps not the best picture, but this is my Terror Bass 500. Love this thing!
I emailed Orange and asked them this question. They said it would be OK, and I've used my TB500 as a preamp/direct box several times without a speaker connected. I feel comfortable with it, but I'm not telling you what to do.
If you really want to try it, you could email Orange customer service like I did. Mine is the current generation, if that makes any difference.
