Welcome to TalkBass Markus! Please tell us about this amp/cabinet.

hey billy, thanks for the welcome!
the amp is a ´73 orange or120, pics and text. the cabinet is an orange/matamp cab from aproximately ´71-´73, loaded with a 18" greenback celestion cast frame speaker.

this combination has a deep, huge sound and sounds best with my danelectro baritone, but any other of my basses just sounds awesome with it. :)

cheers, markus

hey guys, ive got an 115 orange cab that im running my svt pro-6 thru, im loving the tone, but the 15 not enough anyone here ever run this setup?

pro-6 into a 410 orange? or any ampeg head how did you think it sounded? to my ears the 15 sounds alot more defined than the 115 ampeg i tried in the shop when i got my head?

I use the O115 as a stand alone cabinet w/ either my Ampeg V4b or O200.

i like the way they sound the only thing that conserns me is the weight of the 410, the 115 is heavy enough!

I found that Orange gear wasn't as heavy as I expected. I'm a skinny guy, I weigh less than an 8x10, and I can just about lift an orange 4x10 on my own. Not very far mind! My guitarist has the 4x12...and that seems much heavier! The Ad200b head is a good weight! It weighs less than my Trace Elliot 400W SMX 12 Band Eq! Much less than an Ampeg SVT-Cl/VR.

Im awaiting stock on a new OBC 1x15..cannot wait! Will make a full Orange bass stack!

My drummer said straight away 'not only does that look awesome and sound amazing, its fairly 'compact' compared to some tube rigs'.

I know a lot of people are going for lightweight hi-fi amps, and I would like one because I love gear, but its not the same to me.

I am not a cabinet designer so I can't explain it well...hopefully somebody else will chime in. There should also be a lot if you search.

Anyway, there are two ways to kill speakers - thermal failure of the voice coil and mechanical failure due to too much excursion. When you see "power ratings" for cabinets, it is always the thermal rating, which is a function of the speaker. The mechanical rating, which is much less, is going to be a function of the speaker, cabinet design, and input signal.

what are the 410's rated at? my pro 6 put out 750w at 8 ohms, i dnt get my pro passed half on the volume, i dnt wanna get it if it can't handle the wattage
