Pretty much incredible. Unfortunately I don't have a large enough step-down transformer to use it here in Europe. In the meantime I've got my Shuttle 600 powering the SP212 and it's clear... very, very clear. Back in the States there's a second SP212 waiting on me to come home and I'm looking forward to having the full rig together again, so ask again in about six months.

No difference in sound quality at all as long as you've got clean connections and a well-shielded cable of the proper gauge. The difference is more that a speakon cable can lock in the socket while most 1/4" mono or stereo will not. Certain speakon connections are also able to be configured for stereo and if I remember correctly, even 3-channel. It's been about ten years since I've opened one up and looked though.

Sorry for the late reply, I didn't realize that I was asked a question when I checked into the thread the last couple of times.

Nothing of the sort, but then the gritty sound is what I like- I generally run the amp with gain in the 5 to 7 range.

That said, I haven't pushed it too hard for too long yet- the first gig this amp will see isn't for another few weeks. And, at practice I'm using at just over 2 on the volume with the gain at around 7ish for dirt...it's way loud with consistent tone through a no-name 1x12 I have at the rehearsal space.

I have pushed it very loud (5 to 7ish on the volume) to hear what it can do, with little gain to hear the smooth clean tone and with lots of gain to hear the dirt. I do this through the BFM Omni 15 I finally finished putting together- It is ungodly loud but consistent, but I don't do this for more than maybe fifteen minutes at a time.

Again the first real world test for my Orange Terror Bass 500 will be in early November- I just have any gigs lined up before then. That show will be three forty five minutes to one hour sets so I'll report back after that but I expect to be as impressed if not more than I have been up to now.

I took my Tiny Terror 500 and my SP212 to a sound job last night so the bass player with the band could try it. It was a medium sized bar, and they play relatively loud classic rock. He normally uses a 500 watt head with a 410 cab, so the Orange rig looked pretty tiny next to it. He was blown away by the sound of the TT rig and ended up using it for the gig. I was even amazed at how good it sounded, and how well it filled the room with lots of great bass sound. It's on his "got to have list" now. The only PA support was the sound picked up by the vocal mikes, but the TT and SP212 did a fantastic job all by itself.

It's now been 7 weeks and still no AD200b :crying:



In the meantime, I've been looking at which cabs to get when I move to a bigger city next year. With this head I'm thinking 2 obc115s would be pretty sweet, even though I'm usually a 10s kind of guy.

Other options I'm considering are the Bergantino NV610, or an Ampeg 4x10 (either from the classic or heritage lines). Either that or stacking a couple of the new portaflex cabs.

Any other suggestions for cabs? Keep in mind I'll either be in Australia or New Zealand next year, which affects price and availability.

Already have a number, but changed up the cab my ad200 is going into - now running my Emperor 6x12 I had made for my guitar, sounds better than the 6x10. It's packed w/ 65w weber speakers. Now that it's 8ohms vs the 4ohms of my 6x10 I can also run the Sunn vertical 4x12 thats hiding in the background (i have two of them actually) along with it for 10 total 12" speakers and it sounds amazing. I've doubled the amount of pedals since this pic was taken too. 60th anniversary mia p-bass on top of head.

Fabulous looking rig my friend.. I have it with the obc115 cab and I would like to add the 410 eventually

Amazed just how much better the OBC 115 cabs make my amps amps sound. All of them.

A long ways back one of the luminaries on TB opined that the speaker cab(s) is the most important part of your rig. I didn't want to believe him. But i'm starting to think he was right.

I'm just glad I read the reviews wriiten by the gent with an Orange Club membership number a little higher than mine and bought a pair of them. Thanks Tom!

Sometimes simple is better.

Which XLR Attenuator did you buy and from where?

This is the only issue with my Orange Rig - going into the board HOT! I had to place my Sansamp DI at the end of my pedalboard - but not sure that's the best solution.

Also if anyone knows - is it just the Terror that has a Hot DI - or is it the AD200 as well?

This is the best sounding rig I have ever had....!

# 111 Orange Club w/ Terror 500, SP4x10, OBC 1x15
