Awesome! Looks like a fretless? Not too often you see someone owning a bass that long. Obviously it's a keeper, huh? Welcome to the club and add #135 to your signature, if you don't mind.Hey all:
Thanks for the add!
Here is my Japanese early-Gibson Tobias. Original owner from when I bought it in 1994!
Well I'm not sure how elite the club is, but the basses sure are! Nice pair you got there, welcome to the Club!I would like to be a member of this elite club! Here are my two MTD basses.
Nice looking bass!!I got #1349 Classic 5 fretless from a guy in Germany a while back. Love it. I believe it's 1990 but from the L.A. shop, pre-gibson.

There are some MTD-specific Clubs here; you might want to look them up. Our club charter welcomes MTDs as well as Tobias basses, but we actually have seen very little here from MTD owners.I have the Kingston 5 ZX and a 1995 535 Korina with Wenge Neck/Fingerboard.
Oh, well, I'll look up the MTD Club(s), then, since that's what I own.Welcome to the Club Edward. We'll make you Member #137.May I join as well?
I'm new to Tobias basses, but I always liked the well-thought-out design. Hoping to learn more about them here...
To those in the know, can a 18 volt pre run on 9 volts???
My 9 Volt Basic pre works fine at any output level.
My 18 Volt Classic works fine but the output is very hot and
easily saturates pre-amps and pedals if it is turned up over 2/3 output
which is where I normally set all my active basses.
Thanks
Wow, first I've heard of this. I don't think the mini pots actually cut the signal totally off, do they? If not I'd turn them down some more.Oh, forgot to add that the 2 mini pots in the control cavity are set to almost off.

I have Classic 6 and Signature 5.
1.All Original Gibson Tobias Classic 6 String (Pre-Nashville era),Walnut Top on Walnut body + Walnut Neck
Serial number #1722
2.All Original Gibson Tobias 5 String Bass Signature (Pre-Nashville era) Serial #1493, Body Walnut with Zebra Wood Top and Back
