Does anyone know what the actual string spacing was for the Nashville Gibson Tobias Classic 5's was? I think the Pre-Gibsons were 17.5mm, and the current Gibsons are 18mm (adjustable), but what about the 90's Gibson Tobias basses made in Nashville?
I just now received s/n 13xx Classic 5 Fretless for mrbassman_de. Feels like Christmas morning.....
Ranier was great to deal with at this long distance (me in Conncticut and he in Duesseldorf Germany. Bass is in perfect shape and packed better than I could imagine.

That fretless is yummy. Bubinga top? Or one of the few Red Naras?
I don't know the spacing on the Gibsons, but the Pre-Gibsons were 16.5 mm

I want in! This is my '98 Tobias Paragon, which seems to be a very rare model, I think they were introduced shortly before Gibson stopped making them the first time, or something like that.

Are you sure about that? Based on the woods and electronics, that is exactly a Tobias Growler with the pickups/preamp from a Renegade. Are you sure it's not a retrofit? The ash body, maple/purpleheart neck, and wenge fingerboard are pure Growler, and the rest is Renegade.

Yes, I am sure =) I shot a couple of pictures of the Swedish importers catalog from autumn/winter 1998.
Apparently they were introducing three new models; "Virtuoso", "Paragon" and "The Stylist". But I have never heard of anyone owning a "Virtuoso" or "The Stylist". I've seen one more owner of a Paragon at Talkbass, back in 2004 (http://www.talkbass.com/forum/showthread.php?t=147429).

Your bass looks like one of the models being sold by MusicYo.com for a period. I think the model is called Toby Pro Custom. The Custom was the model that had the asymmetrical neck profile, and was a little more expensive than the Toby Pro. It was manufactured in Korea I believe.
Very, very interesting- thanks for that! These were never available in America, which would probably explain why I've never heard, encountered, or even gotten a whiff of these. Very very cool. I would love to have the "Virtuoso" model in that catalog...dang. That's my dream Tobias.
