Official Tobias Club

Bumping this up... I wonder if I'd get shot or banned if I posted up what the contents are in the "other" case. One of the cases has this one in it (link from prior thread, sorry pictures are currently unavailable on the basic 6). What do you think?

Sorry for the delays... =D

It isn't a pre-Gibson, but darnit... it plays so smoothly and has the sound I've been looking for in a guitar. (yea, sorry I have a few guitars but many more basses!) I've inquired with Gibson regarding this model, and the serial number or what I think might be it... but no response at all.

The Standards were made in Japan, with the final setup done in the Burbank shop by Mike's crew. They were made after the Gibson buyout, but are pre-Nashville, which is moot, since they weren't actually built in Mike's shop. There were only around four hundred made, from what I understand, but they don't seem to be particularly interesting to collectors.

Assuming that it's in good shape, you got a killer deal. I've seen used Standards go for close to $1K.

Here is my New-to -me Tobias Classic 5 Ser# 166x made during the Burbank time frame by Mike. Its a ASh body with maple core/neck (Flame) Bubinga stringers, Pau Fero fretboard. Wenge tone plate and an really nice looking Bubinga top! TCT pre with the volume/volume configuration (which I'm really beginning to like that config) This puppy is all orginal. No ware, just a couple of nicks and the bridge is beginning to oxidate a bit. I'm in love with the tone!! Plays awesome....I've been wanting a pre-gib (ok, yes I know Gibson technically owned Tobias by the time of the serial number but Mike still built this one, so I'd consider it Pre-Gibson:)) sence I got a Tobias guitars catalog back in 1990...its been worth the wait!!!!!:hyper:

Can I get a club number??
