Both of my TWB53s have a brass nut and gold (tone) hardware... they're basically identical yet the only one with a serial number (the darker one had the serial number scratched off) begins with an 'S' which I thought made them Korean. Not that it matters to me since they're both great basses.

You might be right, I don't claim to be an authority on them by any means. I have a Korean twb, which is a great bass for what it is. I had just never seen a Korean with gold hardware , brass nut and the little tab on the neck heel is all. I though only the Japanese ones got those. Still great basses reguardless imo. Can't go wrong with a tune, and they look cool as hell to boot.

how about neck dive ? since the upper horn is pretty short, it may be neck heavy ?!

I've found both of mine to suffer slightly from neck-dive in stock form which I see as being mainly due to the abbreviated upper horn. However I use wide suede backed straps and moved the bridge-side strap button inward by a few inches and both of my TWB53s now hang well and I don't have to support the neck at all.
Congrats on getting a TWB53... I hope you enjoy yours as much as I do mine. They are the only ones I play now and all of my other electric basses have been collecting dust. Please submit pictures of yours when you get it. Gawd I love these basses.
you moved the bridge strap button how ? i didnt understand. maybe you can post a pic ?
does the TWB really sound like one would expect from a bass with mahogany body and maple/rosewood neck ?
it must be rather dark sounding, with lots of low end rumble, and some sparkling high end, right ?

I've had this bass for a few months, and I seem to love it more and more every day! The tone is very pleasant and versatile, the balance is great, and the neck is super-easy to play.
I got it in great condition with just a couple of barely noticeable dings, which is pretty good for a ~15 year old bass IMO. Best 500$ I've ever spent in my life!

That's a TUNE Syncron 5, circa 1988-1990. Model SB-5S. Is that yours? I've been looking for one of these!!!!
If you go back earlier in the thread, you will see photos I posted from the TUNE lit that I have.
If that's your bass and you have any interest in selling it, please let me know.

does somebody know what the pots on the tune syncron are?
the pot in the front is volume, the one in the middle does turn the back pickup on and off, and the back pot does nothing it seems, but its push/pull, which changes the sound somehow. maybe parallel/serial?

now, the front pot is volume for the front pickup.
the middle pot is volume for the back pickup.
the back pot has no effect whatsoever. pulling the pot gives more midrange.
inside the electronics compartment, there are two pots, that can be turned with a screwdriver.
one is the gain pot of the preamp.
but what the other one does is not clear to me.
it seems to boost the bass, but in all settings. i mean pulling/pushing the pot in the front: it all has the bass boosted then.
can someone please explain all that to me ?

Middle trimmer: +10dB/-6dB at 400Hz
Look at the PCB and see if it's TB-05B like the pic. It should have a number silkscreened on it. If so, look at the photo and see how the wiring differs. If the PCB's the same, I don't imagine the wiring would need to differ except the way any V/B differs from any V/V. Now if it was me, I'd e-mail, and if they didn't respond, I'd make a phone call. I do that a lot to cut through the fog.
