Could never find the scale length on their pretty poor website but did find out the string spacing is a gaping 20mm! That is a w-I-d-e fingerboard on the Sixer.

Thought i might be able to join the club. Have a TWB43, Korean made i'm assuming. Fits me like a glove and am pretty happy with the active set up. At some point a pick up upgrade may be in order. I seem to get a bit of interest in the bass at gigs, i guess because they are not well known. I have it going through an optical compressor into a Sansamp into a GK Goldline and i usually use Warwick 4x10. Gives me heaps of tone and bottom end. Will post pics soon. Glad to see i'm not the only Tune lover
I've had three Japanese TUNE's in my life thus far. My first bass was a 4 string Bass Maniac which I later sold and bought a 5 string (same color and everything). Bought the first in Edmonton, Canada and the second in Denver, CO.
After selling the 5-string and having a few other basses come and go I started to scour the interweb for another onea few years ago. I chanced upon this one in a music store in Japan and made it mine. I've changed the pickups to some basslines and added an Aguilar OBP-3 preamp, but this plays like butter and I still love it as much as I did my first one 20 years ago...

Several months ago I picked up my first TWB53 at Music Go Round for $180 (the one on the right). It was an abused dog but with a little work it turned out to be a fnatastic bass... so much so that it became my primary player. I rarely played any of my other basses except on the occassions that I was feeling guilty about neglecting them. Since aquiring that first TWB53 I've been on the lookout for another. I'd wished that I knew about the Tune TWB53 years ago when Sam Ash was blowing them out at $400 but alas I lost out and didn't think I would come across another at a decent price. However, yesterday morning, while killing a little time at work, I searched Guitar Center's Used Gear page and found a TWB53. I jumped on it... and to my surprise it arrived this afternoon at my doorstep (the one on the left). So for $250 I got an almost pristine stock TWB53. I am so stoked and can't wait to play it at this weekends gigs. I'm going to keep my 4 string ATK700 and my Douglas piccolo but aside from that and these two Tunes, I decided to sell my other 6 electrics.
Man, $250 for that is just sick! They obviously didn't know what they had... just looking at the quality of the wood, and the fact that it's a 5-string should have made it at least twice the price... what a score! this is one of the few times it's hard to be a lefty....
I assumed that's why you added it. I just moved the bridge end strap button about 3 inches further in from the edge on both of mine and use suede straps... they hang so much better now.

Hey guys I was wondering if you could shed some light on the Tune bass I have. I picked it up off of my friend's dad back in January as he was low on cash and needed to offload it. I've got a serial number to go with it but I don't know if it's safe to post it up (why wouldn't it be safe?). I can post it up if you need it. Basically I just want to find out if I've got a Japanese or Korean model, not that it makes too much of a difference to me. Many thanks!

That should be a Japanese model. Those had the brass nut, gold hardware, and different neck heel shape. The Korean's generally had a plastic nut, Chrome hardware , and square heel shape. Both are great basses, the Japanese version is the better of the 2 though. Nice bass!
Wow I'm pretty chuffed with that! Got it for a good price and it's own leather soft case. It's not all good news however. The neck pickup's output is only 5% of what the bridge pickup sends out and I haven't the slightest clue of where to start in terms of diagnosing the problem. It's got an 18volt preamp which is unbelievably effective and the construction is flawless. Feels like you're holding light steel in your hands because of how sturdy and solid it is. It's serial number has 6 digits and it's stamped on the rear side of the (beautiful)headstock at the top.

Their good basses no doubt! Congrats on the score! The pup output is usually a bad wire (usually a ground) . Replace your batts, and they have pot to adjust the mid frequency center, there may be a pot for each pickup volume as well but I don't remember. Your low volume might just be a minor tweak on the pot.
