Watched the video and realized the unique sound is not a pedal, it's an 8-string bass! sounds Great!
This guy proofs that you don't need an expensive and exotic TUNE bassguitar to have a great sound although it's great to have one. I watched the whole video and Pate does amazing things! My favorite is the part page7 ex 4: "The Art of Tapping" - Dewayne Pate - YouTube It's time to practice (nice to do this at the soundcheck before a gig

Hi Jeff, I always order my parts shipped direct from Tune Japan. My contact there is Kanda-san: <[email protected]> If your Tune is Korean, maybe you can get parts through Sam Ash....?

On a side note, I jammed with some friends in Sacramento this past weekend and my Tune played flawlessly. Great tone too!
@ Doug Ross. Hi Doug, can you tell something about the little cut-out in the trustrod cover of some Bass Maniacs? You can see an example in post 255. First I thought it was a damage. My STB's (Standards) and my Syncron don't have this, only my 2 TB's, just like the TB at post 255. Is this just a TB thing or did you see this also with other series? I don't understand that cut-out.
@all: Buy a Syncron if you find one! I did some gigs with it and it is great. It plays like a Bass Maniac but the sound is more thick (or fat, how can I say that in English....?). This bass rocks!

That's interesting, I've never seen that before. None of my Bass Maniacs (nor my other Tunes) ever had truss rod covers shaped like that. Sorry, I have no idea what the purpose is, other than just for style....?

I just bought this TWB53 FM through CL and I love this guitar. The preamp is really versatile and the sound is so warm. My problem is it needs a good cleaning (thumb grease) and some refinishing like staining and oiling. I also tried to email Tune for two missing knob caps and I just noticed that the T Logo on the headstock is missing. I really think this is a beautiful looking and unique guitar and I would love to try and restore it as close to new as possible. Any help would be appreciated.

I love my Tune TWB53 fretless, but I find that band and Yoshihiro in particular, shallow, lacking in creativity and generally
tiresome. Nice drummers though!

The back of the headstock is signed by some guy, according to the previous owner he's the Canadian distributor. I dunno. Never thought I could wrap my fingers around a 5 stringer (particularly when my last bass was a Jazz) but was pleasantly surprised.
Now if I can find a TWB43QM to match her up with I'd have spectacular twins...

Iv just registered on TB and I would be glad to join the CLub..
Im an italian bassist, more collector than bass player
My first bass was a Japan Bass Maniac Standard which now feel the company of the last deal of the month a Korea TWB 63 OB Ovangkol...always loved the Tune, I have also some vintage basses..Precision, Jazz, Stingray, Ricks..the Korean Tune is the only Bass I purchased NEW in my life and not second hand, is the only 6string as well..I would give it a try!!
I bought the Bass Maniac second hand in 95-96 when I was 17, my first 'real bass', unfortunately there was no serial number since then but I think, given the scans of the catalogs I've seen it should be an early 90s model..
Any contribution about dating it would be great and much appreciated!! Cheers
Unfortunately the 2EQ pre amp on the Bass Maniac stopped working some years ago due to a battery leakage...that was a pity...yesterday I replaced it with a 2EQ chinese preamp bought on ebay,. and the result is quite good (just a bit of interferences), given my un experience in soldering etc.. the Japanese company asked me almost 250 Euros for a new one. Im happy now with my revamped Bass Maniac back to life!!
That's why I decided to share you with you this picture!!!
