Anyone interested in a Tune GAP 6 i've got for sale? not trying to turn this into the classifieds section, but I didn't know this many people were into them! Probably a late 1980's to mid 90's bass, plays like a dream, but I don't find myself using it much... anyone whos interested send me a PM.

No, it's Korean as far as I can tell. I figured I could suffer the indignity of an MIK tune for neck-thru.

Hey guys--I'm over here from the DB side searching for info about a BG I used to gig with back in the early 90s. Actually, I have a bunch of product lit from this company in a file cabinet somewhere in case others share my interest. I used to play a Tune Syncron like this one.

Mine was the blue color, and it was that company's entry model. They had all kinds of fancier, more expensive basses, but this thing was light and just perfect for clubs. At that time I was almost exclusively playing a Fender Jazz, but the P/J setup on this was much more versatile. It was a bolt-on neck with EMG-type pickups.

Anybody have one of these or seen one? Give me a shout if this club would like me to scan the product lit I have--it's two big booklets with lots of great photos, circa 1990.

Okay, Gang... Not sure about your rules, but perhaps you should make me an honorary member of your club for pulling this stuff out of the vault. It's going to take me a while to scan all this. Check it:

And here's a shot of me (I'm the guy with the unfortunate hair and clothing playing the blue Tune bass).

(And since I'm on the BG side, I should name-check my rig: Peavey MegaBass 400 bi-amped, Hartke 2x10, Mesa/Boogie 1x15--that bottom box was the best bass cab I've ever heard in my life).

What should I do with the scans when they're done? I don't want to use up my space by posting them directly to TB. Any Tune fanatic want to host them? I can send via e-mail.

I got this lit when I purchased the bass while working at Elderly Instruments, which carried Tune basses for a while. I know everybody has a favorite music store, but Elderly is just one of the most special places on the planet, IMHO.

Awesome pieces of Tune history guys. I love all those scans, and they were all very insightful as to the tune models. I now know of the Tune Syncron. AND, I learned that they made 6 string Bass Maniacs! It's a darn shame there's no Japanese Tune dealers in the States. They are just phenomenal.

Hi there,

Thanx for all your information about Tune basses! I still want to know more about them. I have two Maniacs, a green standard and a red fretless; they are so nice . I've made a pic with the the most important differances of my basses, could this mean anything about the building year, or perhaps the Japanese vs Korean ones? Both basses, as I were told, are from the late '80's or begin '90's. I've paid 300 euro for the green one and 275 euro for the red one. Both second or third hand, but not a lot of money for such a great bass. The red one has Tune hardware but the green one has Gotoh; could it mean something about the manufacturing year? The green one has no TM or C mark in it's print..........is it an older or a newer one? I think we miss a lot off serial numbers (these of mine has none) and/or manufacturing years. Are we able to reconstruct them?
