It's a black one, 24 frets, brass nut, the bridge is some kind of HIPSHOT A STYLE BRASS with the Tune brand name on. Thanks. I don't know anything about Tune basses, just took a shot in the dark with this. It's Korean so it should be put together pretty well, despite not being a Japanese hand built one.

Seller made no mention of the matching pickup covers & knobs, I'm wondering if they're after market add-ons, or what. (?)

My Korean Tune arrived the other day, as-new condition. My quick impression...I like it.

In typical made-in-Korea fashion, the build is very good. Nice woods. Gloss finish on body. I haven't weighed it yet, but it's really light (thankfully).

The neck is arrow straight, and has a spalted maple veneer on the headstock for a nice cosmetic touch.

The seller must have had it set up before deciding to sell it. Everything is 100% dead on and the bass almost plays itself. I can't see it coming from the factory being tweeked this well. If it did, then big kudos to Tune Korea.

Elecs are very good, also. Very quiet and clear sounding, with a powerful EQ. I did have to tweek the internal gain pots for both pickups, as they were set way too low.

I was expecting cheezy die cast tuners, but these are excellent, no lash and silky smoove. The "wood" pickup covers turned out to be just stick-on veneer things. Not that great so I removed them. The knobs and truss cover are actual wood.

Anyway, it fulfils my craving for something "modern sounding". I also like the way it looks, and the fact that not everyone else plays one. Pretty cool bass.

Say, I just remembered, I'm eligible for this club now! My current computer is crashed so all of my current photos of my most recent acquisition are not accessible, but I wanted some help in identifying the origin of my lovely new-to-me TUNE. Here is a link to the TB For Sale thread from which I purchased the bass, complete with all the pictures I could ever need; what I wanted to know was from which country did the bass originate? It has a serial number on the back which makes me think it is Korean, but I would really like to be sure. The original owner put in Bart jazz p'ups with gorgeous walnut covers and a Bart NTMB preamp, and she has become the workhorse in my albeit small arsenal. I know now why I lusted after these basses for so long; they're really something special. If anyone could please provide some insight, that would be most appreciated. Thanks!

Oh, and could I request a number?

I've posted about my Tune on Basschat before, but I've only just got around to joining TalkBass. In 2007 I wanted a 4-string fretted after playing 5s for years, so I ordered a TWB43-BB (Korean) from Germany, at about 1/2 what they wanted here in Ireland.

I was slightly mystified by the wood, since the company didn't offer this model in Bubinga in 2007, but the serial number suggests it was made in 2004. I really didn't like the standard plastic knobs, so I got some gold-plated brass ones from an eBay seller. The action's not as good as I'd like - it might have sat in the shop for too long with too high an action - but I think it can be improved by someone who's better at such things than I am.
