The why is really quite simple. The tip of the horn is very thin so a screw down through it would be a weak spot.
Move it if it offends you but I'd say it was risky.

That's exactly what I mean. Why place the strap button there instead of the very end of the horn like almost every other bass.

Well,I have no problem with where it is.


I tend to think that the weight of the bass would be more likely to break it if it were on the very tip.
Where it is,it has a flat surface to sit on.

I move the lower strap peg to this location on my other bass too!

Yours is perfect. That's what I'm talking about. Right at the end of the upper horn like most every other bass on the planet.

I think so - never a balance issue so far.

But I use a 4" wide strap too.

The strap locks on my MIJ TWB6 are too small to hold any of my straps in place...I stuck a simple washer under the top part of lock but now the washer rattles a lot when I play it...Is this a normal problem?

Are they Schallers?
If you bought and installed them as a set,they should fit.
Maybe the part on the strap is not the same brand as the peg.

So what if it rattles,unless you can hear it over the drums it's hardly an issue. I have the same straplocks with a washer that rattles,they came fitted as standard to my 33 year old Tune Maniac.

Yes and no.I use Schallers.

jboo has the Dunlop type straplock and the Dunlop washer is free,it's fixed by a sur-clip at the back so can spin.
Of course on the Schallers like yours the washer is fixed by the nut.

Got the feeling jboo is overthinking.

I'd like to be part of this club. I recently purchased a Japanese TWB and am very pleased with it. To me, the tone is almost a cross between a Ken Smith and Roscoe. Got the beefiness of the Roscoe Bartolini combo but a touch of that honk and midrange clarity of the Smith. Anybody agree with that? Regardless I'm pleased. Here's a couple of pics. Mine is apparently a bit unusual with a rosewood fingerboard. But I love rosewood so it's great for me. This thing is in nearly mint condition and is a 2012 build according to Japanese warranty card in original Tune gig bag.

Hi guys, looking to score this beauty.. can anyone tell me if its a korean or japanese one? Truss rod is maxed out accorsing to the seller.. also would like to know if thia is fixable by some washers or clamping etc.. seller says it has emg pups.I only have these pics at the moment.. TIA!
