There are 2 volume controls for each pickup and "notch" regulator. With it you can boost some of the mid frequencies. If you turn it all away left, it does not do anything.
I set up mine to position "11 o'clock" and it boosts lower mid frequencies

Hello all.

Couple questions..

Based upon the pictures, can you tell me what year this bass was made and any other information?
Also, on the preamp, what does the little blue trim-pot on the lower slightly left-center do? I think it's a mid adjustment, just not sure. The two on the upper left are gain for each pickup .

Since the label says Maniac not Technology it was made in Japan,long after the original Japanese company went bust. If the pickups also say Maniac then it's from the last 12-18 months,it's only lately Maniac have been using their own branded pickups. They may still be made by WSC in Korea.

That's a GPZ-2 pre so the trim pot is up to -20dB at 850Hz.

What's having a trem on a bass like ?

This Tune Hatsun TWB63NF-WG certainly has my interest. I'm looking for a 6-string fretless and am also considering the Ibanez SRF706. Does anyone have one of these Tune Hatsun 6 String Fretless Basses? I'd love to hear some feedback on them.

The trem is cool, but I really don't have a use for it. For the moment, I have the trem mechanism in locked mode (like a standard bridge).

About the pickups, with them saying "TUNE Guitar Technology, do you know if those are Japanese or Korean made? Thanks!

Way back in early 90's Tune Guitar Technology in Japan were getting pickups and hardware from WSC in Korea,this later also included necks and bodies. In the final phase complete basses were being imported from Korea. If your bass is less than say 25 year old it'll have Korean built pickups and preamp. The pickup side of WSC is a fairly large concern,they supply pickups to Fender,ESP,Status Graphite and Spector among others

I really appreciate you posting the control cavity and the close of the pickups,it's a real "cat among the pidgeons" deal There's some Tune Guitar Maniac owners swear blind TGM is the original company and the nasty Koreans stole the name. If that's true don't it seem odd TGM were building basses with pickups bearing the registered trademark of their arch enemy Tune Guitar Technology

And if it's any consolation, the guy that sold it to me said that he bought it while he was living in Tokyo and that this was definitely a MIJ Tune. I'm hoping that he's right.

I have one.
But it's is a self defretted lined fretless that was then converted to unlined fretless after seeing that VSN is selling fretless TWB's.

I wanted to buy a separate neck.
But VSN says Tune doesn't sell the necks alone.
So I had my lined fingerboard replaced with unlined.

So it doesn't really qualify as a genuine Tune fretless.

I think Shanannigan(formerly TBAR Shane) bought one from VSN a while back.

Just bought a Tune TWB36 fretless.

Had to file down the nut because it was too high, but now it plays/sounds great.

Personally I would go for the Ibanez. I would have got an SRF706 when I was shopping for a fretless, but they weren't offering the SRF as a 6 string at the time.
