Hey Tune Bass Gurus

Anyone ever heard of this model?

I posted a while back and was seeing if anyone else has any more info on these?

I think it’s early 90’s MIJ.
I still have original sizzlin’ electronics, but I modded her with Nordy dual coils and preamp. Mr Lull hooked everything up. This bass is a Swiss Army Knife of tone now.

Thanks for any info

You still have the electronics

Thanks, but I’d better keep them. I was actually thinking about selling the bass and the original electronics together because I bought a Yamaha BBNE2 that I really dig and this beauty isn’t getting the playing time she deserves. I’d kick myself in the butt if I split up the bass and the original electronics.

Regarding strap button location, I moved mine to the end of the upper horn and it was a huge improvement. I hate strap buttons on the back of an instrument, it makes the bass lean forward or away from your body, from the top or e string side. In doing so the fretboard is leaning away from you. I also hated where the bottom button is and moved it too. If you move the button to the end of the horn you should replace the short screw with a longer one. I didn’t and the screw blew out the end of the headstock but a friend reconstructed it rather nicely. Positions are clearly seen in the pic.

Regarding the electronics in these basses: I have multiple Bartolini preamp basses, I have multiple Audere Preamp basses. As well as three or four other types of pres. I would NOT change the active parts of this bass, period. I think it has a distinctive voice. I like the deviation from my usual Bart and Audere Pres. The one other bass I play a lot has a J Retro pre in it, (not a J) a dual Soapbar bass.
I like the J Retro pre but find it a little more difficult to dial in on the fly.
Point is the Tune pre is its own thing, I say leave it alone. It's really pretty darn good.

I replaced it with a U Retro Deluxe
The pickups, I find, is the distinct part of the 2.
Yes, it definitely has it’s own thing going.
The Retro just gave a little something extra to me.

Hi, i'm helping my friend to fix the volume pot, but i can not pull off the knob, black plastic knob.. I guess it's twb63 model. I've read someone posted earlier if the knob using a screw from top of shaft to hold the position, just can not open the knob tip.. Please help.. Thanks!

Btw, the preamp isn’t individual pots. I would open the control plate to see what you’re dealing with first
