Just received an email back from Tune. They said...
"Hello, your TBC-5 was made in Japan 1993. The top wood is Bubinga and back wood is Mahogany.
Neck wood is Hard Maple and fingerboard is Ebony."

Has anybody ever seen one badged Rodeo? I have a bass, or should I say had since I lent it out and that person sent it to mexico, with a neck that looks identical to the four string model shown. But instead of a T, it has a aluminum plate that says "Rodeo Musical Instrument Co." The neck is poorly grafted to a fake Gibson EB0 body made of plywood. I wish I still had it with me so I could attach pics to prove it. I did google searches for another one like it, but no luck. One day I stumbled on pics of a tune headstock and said "look, that's just like my bass".

I've never seen an unlined TWB for sale anywhere!
I would have prefered unlined,but I defretted my TWB seven years ago and inlayed styrene strips in the slots.

I'm really digging the consistent dark color with the wenge top and unlined fingerboard.
It just arrived two days ago. So I'm still making little adjustments to get it set up right where I like, but it's feeling great so far.

And I'm NOT going to buy another TWB63.

So my only option,now that a fire has been lit,is to have the fingerboard replaced.

I just got a BEB-6. Natural finish. The pickups have been upgraded to Delanos and has a Michael Pope 4 band EQ. Ebony fretboard. I haven't log on to talkbass for a while. I will add pics. Serial is not so clear
The switches are a Delano thing. Series, P-Bass mode and parallel/traditional hum cancelling I think I got that right and in terms of loudness it varies the boldness of the sound. Honestly, I do not like the louder in your face and prefer the P-Bass or parallel/traditional hum cancelling. Previous owner moved the pickups closer to the bridge and filled the holes with close enough wood.
Very cool. Not too familiar with that particular model, so had fun doing some research.
Love the visual stuff, solid body, long long neck. Very cool bridge.
They have changed the head a bit since that one, but looks good.
Enjoy it, it's unique... never come across another like it which ups the cool factor.
I play the upright but this 36 scale really needs getting used to. My hands are not that big so I am doing 4 fingers to 3 fret until the 6-7 fret marker.
I first saw a Tune Bass with Miles Davis's bass player - Benny Rietveld live and also Foley playing the Piccolo bass. Good times. Marilynn Mazur was there as well. I had a TRB-6 but foolishly sold it in 2005. When me and my wife started playing in a Grateful Dead band 2 years ago, she asked me where is your 6-string. I had been looking ever since but cannot bond with Ibanez or the Korean Tunes and TRBs were too crazy high. Now I got one and can be legit ha, ha.
Haven't brought a new bass or bass gear (except for the Mesa Prodigy 4:88 which was on closeout - that was 2013) since 2003, except for strings and strap locks. Bass gear Gas is long overdue. Do not know much about the new gear available now.
