I had a tri pie for awhile, was a little too creamy for my tastes. And (shutter) I have lost my taste for clean blends on muffs. I think they strangle the tone.
Interesting. Have you owned the Pickle Pie B before as well? How's the TFR compare to either?
I'm rocking 3 wren and cuff pedals that have been staples of my sound...Phat Phuk B, Pickle Pie B and the Tall Font. All awesome at what they do!
A couple of pedals have tried to replace the TFR on my board but it keeps coming back.
Me too... being a dirt addict, I've tried a lot of muffs, but the TFR is the one for me.
Where are they placed in relation to the other effects in the chain? I love my Phat Phuck B, but have noticed it's placement makes a big difference with some of my other effects, especially dirt boxes, even though I have the PP set barely above unity (have never touched the internal trim). I just like the color that the PP adds to the tone, it's one of those pedals that you could easily just leave on all the time.
Of all the muff variants I've tried the TFR is THE go-to muff in my collection. It's on my guitar board but I don't think I'll ever sell it in case I ever need a muff sound on bass.

I find the the Phatty works better after the wren and cuff fuzzes. It doesn't tend to push them as well as boost them afterwards. That said, I rarely stack them. I do find the phatty into the b7k though is amazing stacked!

I used to run my Phatty after my dirt pedals (W&C TFR and Darkglass VMT), but due to my pedalboard space constraints and wanting to run my octaver before it, I had to put it before my dirt. It works just fine IMO, although I had to up the volume a bit on the dirt pedals. The tone sounds a bit fatter to my ears and perhaps just a slight tad more compressed, nothing serious, but also a bit more focused if you will. I never turn the phatty off, I have it set for slight volume boost for my passive PJ, it works wonders. In a live gig (loud rock band), I haven't noticed a huge difference in my dirt pedals' tone. IME it can work great either way.
Just ordered one of the Tri-Pies from Prymaxe. We will see if it can knock the other fuzz off my board!
Hey guys - I have a Phat B coming in to check out, but it's currently got the trimmer dialed to clean. Which direction makes it dirty? Counterclockwise (left) I think typically lowers bias and introduces dirt, right?
I'm not 100% on that, but I think that's what I remember from when I had one...can anyone else confirm that?
