What are you considering? I have plenty of examples of Zons with all sorts of woods, taken at their shop. I'm pretty sure I have them on this computer.

I say this, too, because you want to have an idea before you contact them. No luthier/builder has time to go through EVERY single type of wood with you. So it's best you get some help before doing that.
There are other options beyond maple, koa, or bubinga. What other instruments (of any brand) have you seen that you liked? I'll find some pictures of Zons with those woods right now, though.
Figure that the price will be about 75% of the retail price from any dealer, and the amount of deposit necessary will vary from dealer to dealer. I'm finding pictures for you now.
Oops- their online calculator already shows the price you'll pay- the MSP. That's what any dealer would charge you. They are all required to charge the same price so you can choose a dealer that you are comfortable with.
Do they have their wood inventory online? You mentioned that. They were meaning to do that for a while but I'm not sure if they ever posted the link.

I guess I don't have my repository of Zon pictures with me here, but I can at least get some from my photo account and then pull the rest from websites.
As far as gloss/satin, I own both. Gloss definitely make for a prettier instrument because it highlights the wood much much better, but I prefer the feel of the satin instruments like 100:1. But if you just want it to be pretty, then by all means get the gloss. All of mine from now on will be satin.
Bubinga with gloss finish (mine):
This is actually spalted bubinga, and they may still have some. But I'll more standard bubinga pictures in a minute.
Spalted maple with satin finish, bad pictures (formerly mine):
Gelb music used to have a good gallery of Zons they had sold in all sorts of configurations, but they just redid their website so those picures are gone. However Bass Central (www.basscentral.com) still has a good log of pictures.
I'll be able to search for more when I get back from errands, and if you can wait until Jan 1st I can get you a huge bunch of pictures of all sorts of configurations once I get to my other computer.

Oh I know a bunch of that top gallery is gone because it was set up months and months ago. Over half of that katalox they feature was given to them by me, and I know that one of the pieces is on a bass I've had since February!

You mean the Zon Legacy elite? "Elite" is just a price tier of the Legacy. The Legacy models are all set-neck, with except of the import "standard" models, which have wood necks. All of the composite neck Legacy basses (like the Legacy elite) are set-neck.
