Yes it appears a lot bigger than I imagined it would be. Somehow I still can't wrap my head around how the bass case is positively tiny, while the bass feels, looks, and weighs like a full sized bass (this one is 9.9 lbs).

Adding on to this, there have been a few occasions when my friends/bandmates have pointed this out. They either see the case first ("oh look it's so small") then are thrown off by the almost full-sized bass, or they are actually holding the bass and cannot believe it fits inside the case.

Anyway, here's some action shots with my bandmates and fellow churchgoers. I'm a youth service bassist and bass trainer.

Absolutely spectacular, Ehque. What can I say? Thank you!!

No problems. The Vinny is a joy to photograph as well - I just started on this whole DSLR thing.

Well, I wouldn't call it irony. But you'll get there!

Yes onewebfoot, you'll get there.

6 string Vinny ,very rare animal

Indeed it is. Haven't seen another in existence.

@ehque :
my compliments for your amazing instruments
Would you tell me about the non standard electronics on your Sonus please ?
thank you :)

My Sonus has a split coil switch for each pickup and a 3-band EQ with switchable mids (250-500-800).

My Vinny has a series-single-parallel switch for each pickup and a 3-band EQ with switchable mids (250-800, push pull).

Very nice setup!!! I'm wondering what amp do you use?

I must use one of the cheapest "amps" of all Zon users.

For recording I use a Presonus USB Audiobox and go direct.
For bedroom practice, a 20W Peavey Microbass 1x8 combo.
At regular church services, I DI through a Sansamp BDDI Deluxe (on bypass).
At special church events, I use a EBS Fafner running into the EBS 2x12.

I do prefer most of my tone to come from the bass, uncoloured by the amp or recording interface. My channel EQ at the board is always set flat.

Sometimes, I also use a Line 6 M13.

OMG, that top looks terrific
Congrats!!!

Thank you! I was really excited to see how that piece of wood turned out and was def not disappointed. It's black redwood burl. When I spoke to Joe he told me the story of finding that wood.

His wood purveyor called him and said 'you need to get to Napa to check out this wood!' Apparently a vineyard tore down an old building to build new and dug up these huge redwood stumps that were buried underneath this building to act as sort of a foundation. When they cut into them they weren't even sure they were redwood at first. Once they cut them up into blocks to cure they just had to wait to cut into them and once they did he said they were like kids in a candy store with every piece. No doubt why after seeing the finished product!
