This is a 2006 model that formerly belonged to Talkbass member Seansbrew. He took incredibly good care of it!
The renowned UK session player's initials wouldn't happen to be JG, would they?![]()
Indeed they would! Sublime fretless player
Oh yeah! Found one!
Beautiful bass!
I traded my Zon 5-1 to Bass Sandiego.Mint. Cocoabolo top .Should go up on their site late next week .Always regret selling my basses but can only afford one really nice bass .Was wanting to switch to a Sadowsky NYC 4 string but opted for a Roscoe.Fell in love with the Sadowsky tone off of a Jeff Beck utube video whith Tal Wilkenfeld on bass.Check out her tone on one of her songs titled "Table for one" it can be found on on utube .That is the tone Iam looking for .
Loved my Zon alot,it played the nicest of any bass I have ever owned,The tone wasn't speaking to my heart like the jazz tone on Tals song that I mentioned and on Rush's Subdivisions -my favorite bass tone .Do not like to see that bass go and it did with some regret but nothing ventured nothing gained.I love Zons and may revisit one someday.
I didn't have the extra cash for the Sadowsky so my next stop is A Roscoe SKB 3005 J3.Pretty sure it will be a tone monster like Roscoes are .A friend of mine has one and I like it a lot .He was upset I did not give him a chance at my Zon .The lifelong search for that elusive tone keeps going on and on . I would consider trading my new(have not even received it yet )Roscoe for a Sadowsky NYC 4.If you take a listen to Tals song you may just be gassing for A NYC 4 to add to your collection .Beautiful jazz bass tone.Maybe the Roscoe will be the ticket?Time will tell .
My experience with my friends Roscoe is the tone is very desirable and it plays very nicely .It did not play as nice as My Zon but nothing ever has.Excited about the double stacked pickup configuration on the back bridge .That should provide some good punch.
Iam getting a Sadowsky NYC someday. The NYC have graphite rods in the neck like the Roscoes .Gotta have the graphite IMO.
