As requested, here's the body-only shot. Camera's bad, but you can kind of see some of the subtleties. I actually have a general preference for understated cosmetics and bought this for sound and playability rather than looks, but there is something 'just right' about the appearance, I think

This is a 2006 model that formerly belonged to Talkbass member Seansbrew. He took incredibly good care of it!

Thanks Vic ,I was thinking that was probably going to be the case since they didnt show up in a search engine .
Tsar that is a really cool body ! love that .
The only only Zon I have heard live was back in the late nineties with Machine head .Machine head was pretty damn intense ! We were right up front and directly in front of the bass players Ampeg stacks !There are two guitar players in that band. You couldnt pick out the basses tone per say but alltogether it was just a good bass for amps on 11 in your face metal .They played very tight, were very serious about what they were doing and I was really influenced by the performance .Just as much as seeing Clapton , Rush,or Iron Maiden.I thought the bass worked very well for that setting .It was such a strong metal performance and being up close makes it even better to me .It made you feel like you had been violated and batted around a bit , but in a good way musically if that makes sense.

It was like being stuck in a pleasant tornado.Iam sure the Zon helped out with conveying that intensity.
I feel my Zon bass does have a very strong voice .When I told them I wanted to go with Cocobolo over ash in the 5-1 configuration they were like yeah this is going to cut thru the mix really well .Joe stated it would be "ominous".
It would be nice to sit down with a bunch of Zons in many different configurations to sample them to see what you felt were the right combination of ingredients that you liked best .Iam very pleased with my Zon but for all I know there may be different woods ,pickup configurations,string spacing,neck length etc. that I felt would have been better for me .
I found very few sound samples on the net of Zons .The best ones were from Bass Sandiego .All their basses sound great on those samples .Whoever plays that stuff knows how to lay it down .Very few samples on searches of utube.
It would be cool for Zon to have a database of sound samples with some examples for people to take a listen to.
I believe in an interview Joe stated the tone print for the Sonus was originally intended to be built with with Bubinga and ash .

+1 especially with chords.Doing triads on the A D and G strings is a delight. Does anyone know of good live performances in a band setting on utube we can watch with Zons in use?

The nicest thing about owning a Zon to me is the freedom .It frees you up .Your able to play so freely and easily.I can finally just play and not struggle against my instrument . It makes playing bass fun .Thats the best thing to me, but there are alot of other really great things about them .

Uh oh, looks like there's video of me improvising on this thing

So there are a LOT of notes / timings I wish I could do-over / erase here, but hell, that's what it's about, right? Go to the edge, sometimes you rule and sometimes you fail, right? This was our first gig and we were trying some new approaches. Had the jitters. And my sleeve kept muting my tapped notes!

Anyway, I think the power and overall timbre of the Zon really comes through here, even through the cheesy 80s chorus of the JC-120.

You know I have been wanting to post a little diddy, mostly just so people can hear a Zon bass cause they sound so good .I was very interested in hearing them any way I could before I got mine .
Iam not a very tech savvy person .
Got this software .Cakewalk by Sonar .Got this interface by Sonus .I cant get them to work.I cant even get the software that came with the Sonus to work .Iam cursed .Have played bass since 1980 and have not recorded one note .Not like Iam real great to where people would want to hear it anyway but yeah Iam not doing something properly .
Just wanted to post the sound of the bass for people to hear if they happened to be interested in getting a Sonus
.Have spent alot of time with customer service from both products -they cant figure it out ? I use the sonus as a headphone amp.Kind of gave up on it .Invested 320 to record and its not happening.May just get a sonar interface .Maybe my fourth grade son can figure it out for me .Its kind of intimidating cause people are so judgemental but someday I will get a sound sample of this awesome axe up on this blog.
