Tsar treat us to a close up of just the body on your bass. That is an exclusive top!Iam seeing some cool stuff in it from that last photo that didnt show up in the others. Very cool.
As requested, here's the body-only shot. Camera's bad, but you can kind of see some of the subtleties. I actually have a general preference for understated cosmetics and bought this for sound and playability rather than looks, but there is something 'just right' about the appearance, I think

This is a 2006 model that formerly belonged to Talkbass member Seansbrew. He took incredibly good care of it!
That top is wonderful. Simple, clean and elegant.
Thanks amigo! This bass has been my one and only for the past year, and I couldn't be happier.
sadowsky.comI was looking around for the Sadowsky steels that Vic said were a good bet but could not locate them ?
I'd really like a Zon. I've seen a couple of players using the Sonus live and the tone is always great. They have nice definition and balance.
The only only Zon I have heard live was back in the late nineties with Machine head...
It was like being stuck in a pleasant tornado.Iam sure the Zon helped out with conveying that intensity.
I feel my Zon bass does have a very strong voice .When I told them I wanted to go with Cocobolo over ash in the 5-1 configuration they were like yeah this is going to cut thru the mix really well .Joe stated it would be "ominous".
It would be nice to sit down with a bunch of Zons in many different configurations to sample them to see what you felt were the right combination of ingredients that you liked best .Iam very pleased with my Zon but for all I know there may be different woods ,pickup configurations, string spacing, neck length etc. that I felt would have been better for me .
I found very few sound samples on the net of Zons .The best ones were from Bass Sandiego .All their basses sound great on those samples .Whoever plays that stuff knows how to lay it down .Very few samples on searches of utube.
It would be cool for Zon to have a database of sound samples with some examples for people to take a listen to.
I believe in an interview Joe stated the tone print for the Sonus was originally intended to be built with with Bubinga and ash .
.Your able to play so freely and easily.I can finally just play and not struggle against my instrument .
