addendum : I've always wanted to play fretless but was just too chicken. Since becoming a student of T. Johnson and having all my old playing habits tossed in the bin, essentially starting from scratch and having to play with great precision anyway, I thought "well, I'm starting fresh anyway, now's a good time to leap into the void"

Those are some real nice photos !
I always liked my Ernie Ball Nickel Slinkies on my Stingray 5.When I changed em out it was always a big relief to have the new ones on .I always thought wow those were dead .I do not have that large of a difference in the same timeframe with the Hi beams and like them .Going to have to check the sunbeams out .
That is great that you were able to open for one of the greats .Must have been a good feeling .When I saw BB eleven years ago all of his bandmates came out and did a song without him before he came on .They all stepped up and did a solo.His guitar player totally changed the mood with a complete different vibe when he stood up to play his solo.The tempo slowed way down and it was TRUE BlUES.One of the best music /concert tempo /mood changes I have ever experienced live .Something Ill never forget.Was a great show .

Holy @#$%ing kow. I didn't think that a bass better than my Sonus Custom 5 was even theoretically possible. THIS is THE BASS. Ten seconds in my hands and any reservations I had about the color were completely vanished.

- Incredible, beyond-great playability -- SUPER thin neck, low low action, which I dig, and fingerboard feels like glass. Also, the neck is gloss finished, unlike the (originally, before I wore it down) matte finish on my fretted Custom; I think I like the gloss better. This axe makes the fear of playing fretless melt utterly away

- Perfect sound -- like THE sound I hear in my dome when I think "fretless bodaciousness"

- WHOA


Big props to Addison for hipping me to this incroyable instrument, and special thanks to all you cats who encouraged me to not fear the fretless. And of course, MEGA respect to J. Zon and his crew for creating an expressive instrument of the very highest caliber. I can tell that this is going to be my new thing.

Like most of you here I've been bitten years ago by the Zon bug and even though I often look in other directions I still revert to Zon.
I got my sixth Zon recently (I still own only another one) and I've been literally floored.

So I am wondering: The set neck/bolt on difference in Vinnys should be acousticwise the same difference between Legacy and Sonus.
Do the set neck Vinnys play differently from the bolt ons ?

Hey, check this out! I was reading part 2 of this thread and came across this photo of Fretster's "Darth Zon," which is identical to the fretless I got from 965 Guitars and was just playing. I wonder if it's just cosmetically similar, or actually the same instrument?
