Hey Vic record your band when your playing a Zon so we can hear it in a band format. If you would. Do you get compliments on the tone from other musicians? You looked kinda possessed in one of those pics. Like you were gonna breathe fire or something. It looked like you guys were jamming in those pics! How do like the 2-10's stacked like that? They look like tens.
Mulebagger . I liked your rig. It looked stout yet easily transportable. Crazy looping.
Tsar your band is very out of the ordinary. Very unique. It looks like pure fun. Relaxing. Pretty cool. Way to go out on a limb and challenge the status quo.

Are you talking about the promo vid in my sig? No, those are GK 112 cabs, and they are what I use most of the time, and I love them.

Honestly, we rarely record, since we don't do originals. Next recording of that quality will probably be a new promo someday, and not sure when that will be. That said, it could happen... either in ITB or in a worship set, and if I do, I'll make sure I'm on the Zon and share.

Yeah, I'm fairly active on stage... since I sing very little, it's kinda' part of my role/job in the band. :)

I was just going off memory but I thought they showed up in the vid and pics.Yes the GK cabs, how are those? They look like convenient little cabs. Are those yours or the keyboardists? I really enjoyed the vid .

They're mine, they're what I use most, and I love them. :)

@Vic : that demo video is really great! Killer production values, and the band has it together like whoa!
Thanks! I'm really having a good time in this band for sure. :)

@ mulebagger. Your strings sound super crisp and zingy What type?

I've got a set of DR Sunbeams ( round core) strings on there now. Nickel wrapped. The bass is very responsive to touch in terms of tone. You can go from warm to nasty to dub with out touching the eq. I prefer to keep it mostly flat and eq for the room. On the clip I had a slight bump in the upper mids but all else flat. The zing came from tapping w the pads of my fingers over the frets

I love DR Sunbeams... use them on all my passive basses.

:)

Anyway, I opened for BB King last night... here are a few pics of me and my buckeye burl Zon 519!

Anyway, this fretless might still be at 965 Guitars...

Well, I ended up ordering this beastie. Though I never would have thought to get a black Zon, the configuration and price were right, and thanks to helpful hints from TBers in another thread, I'm not as scared by the unlined fretless aspect as I once was. Should be in my hands in a week. Pretty stoked!

addendum : I've always wanted to play fretless but was just too chicken. Since becoming a student of T. Johnson and having all my old playing habits tossed in the bin, essentially starting from scratch and having to play with great precision anyway, I thought "well, I'm starting fresh anyway, now's a good time to leap into the void"

You'll love fretless. I find that I look at my bass less on fretless. Your hands know listen to your ears more than your eyes.
That's a great bass. It's just a short drive away from me. Really cool people to do business with as well. I'm completely enamored w my fretted Zon, but I must say that the fretless Zons are truly above and beyond. You'll love it
