I didn't for the last few years as I was living on the east coast, but I live back in the area again, and have to go visit them soon...

That said, Bryan, if Addison can't help get a pot, take a picture of the original and send it to me. I bet I can find the correct replacement piece within a few minutes.

It's the pot with the long, flat prongs w/ 90 degree bend, right?

Addison's looking into it for me. There's 2 solder lug ones with detents, two right angles with detents, and one right angle one without a detent; basically all five are mashed at the top of the shafts, so I'd like to switch them. The long length is apparently the issue- my buddy was searching for the pots by serial number and scrounging Mouser for something similar, and haven't come across any exact matches that we can purchase.

Thanks for the offer. It's at my drummer's house right now as he's great with electronics and I can't even solder because of my eyesight, but I'll snap a pic at our next practice.

Clearly- someone had now idea what they were doing when they put the knobs on.

I'll get back to you tonight when I get back to my main computer. I think I still have my notes on where I ordered one when I had to do the same replacement.

Yes, I've had the Pope 4-band pre in my TJ6 for a few months now, I'm really loving this pre. One of features I really like is the Hi-Mid control, I use this the most, I just set my stackable bass and treble in the middle indent position as well as my Low-Mid knob and then use the Hi-Mid to taste. The best thing about this pre is the total separation of frequency band from the rest of the other frequencies. Another words, there is no low freq. that is attached to the mids, or vice a versa. If you want just bass you get just bass, if you want just mids, you get just mids, etc. I also have the mid switch which you can adjust the mid freq. points on the fly. I do like the Polyfusion as well as the proprietary Bart in the Zons too, but for me the Pope was the one that got closest to my sound that I wanted. I found the Poly a great pre but a little to glassy for me, and the Bart was to broad and not focused enough for me, the Pope split the difference and I love the freq. separation as well as the 4-band (especially the Hi-mid knob), which really smooths the mids out to get that buttery finger tone, and anything in between. Everything is very musical in any setting with the Pope, I was really surprised with the results, I've been waffling on this decision for a while now and decided to go forward with it and I'm pleased with the results.

Ppal,
I've been considering the Pope 4 band pre for my TJ6 for the same reasons. I upgraded the Pope in my Emperor to the 4 band from the 3 and find that mid stack has all the sweet spots I need. I'm hoping the Pope would do it for me on the TJ6. Do you happen to have any sound clips of the bass with the new pre?

Vive la revolution!

The mid sweep is wildly useful in being able to tune for sweet spots in each instrument, to help (some, anyway) account for weird room acoustic issues live.

The main thing I like, though, is the warmth of the bass eq. Adds warmth without getting boomy. The treble also adds sparkle without getting harsh or nasty, but I honestly almost never use it.

Hi Derrick,

No, I dont have any sound clips as of yet, but I'm thoroughly sold on the 4-band EQ. To me, you still get that Zon tone (that incredible neck) no matter what pre you install, but now I just have more control of the "Focus" of tone, (wide and narrow) for lack of a better word, than I ever had before.

Very well put Angus "Vive la Revolution!!" I hope if Joe ever redesigns the pre that he considers the 4 band as an option. The Zon will always sound like a Zon no matter what you put into it, but having a little more tweaking options would serve the company well....there is a demand out there I believe, and I feel it will only get bigger as time goes on.

I have it in my fretted only at this point, I've considered putting it into my fretless but I don't play that bass as much as I used to, and the Poly sounds great in that bass. I'm so addicted to the TJ6, with the narrower bridge spacing, the feel and sound of the neck, and the 3 pups acting like a huge louvered ramp, I couldn't be happier. Don't get me wrong, I love my fretless as well and played that bass exclusively for years (circa '93), and believe me its in mint condition! I'm just finding myself playing the fretted 95% of the time, and with the fine tuning I've done to the bass ( pope pre, 3 pups for added tone possibilities (especially the back two p/u) and the ramp feel, and I had Joe cut the end of the fretboard off for more versatility), I'm so totally bonded with this bass it's eliminated GAS for me for a long time. That being said, I still have a fretted modded Xotic 4J that I love, and a 62' Fender fretless J with Bart's in it, I've eliminated so many basses and just cut it down to the ones I really do play and the Zon's are for me the best basses on the planet.
