It is not the disappointment, but the wait time. I would have said the same if it had arrived perfect.

In my case, I received the bass I ordered, it just took a really long time. I'm definitely in the 2+ year zone. While I love the bass I also know that I can't justify ordering another one.
Zon makes some extremely sexy basses. I don't believe mine counts (no blingy wood), but I'll show it anyway.
Long story short: I was intrigued by the Billy Gould BG4 signature model: matte black with onboard distortion module. I decided to borrow that "stealth" visual, but went headless, 5 string, and very different electronics (including no distortion).I definitely agree with Angus about the amazing fretwork, it plays like buttah. Also, I hardly ever have to tune this bass, regardless of the season or any other conditions! That's partly because of the composite neck, partly due to the headless system: no tuning keys to get bumped in transport.
2 years ago I shipped them my bass (I waited their ok before shipping) for frets dressing and to add a third pickup. It took around 9 months to see my bass again! So I am not surprised to see orders with years of delay...
My Zon is a wonderful instrument. Joe and Martin seem to be nice guys, but the customer experience is really not up to the level of their instruments imho.

Wait a minute. I only noticed the headless when it was pointed out. That’s very cool! I thought a headless was only possible on the Zon Vinny.Very stealthy indeed. Love the headless aspect.
Devils advocate: if you don’t post pics, how can we be sure you didn’t spec a white rhino tusk headstock veneer, and the build had to wait for the hunt?

I've been asked a couple/few times whether it's a Steinberger! I suppose I should have seen that coming given that most Steinbergers were matte black. But even though some had full bodies, that brand is most often associated with the twig shape, so I was still surprised (and amused).
I asked whether headless was possible on "wide 5" spacing, and the reply was yes, as long as I was okay with 34" scale because that's what they had ready to roll. That was perfectly fine with me. I can play 35" with no difficulty, but most of my current basses (all fivers) are 34".
Joe said I have the first headless Sonus 519, but I believe someone here has a headless Sonus with narrower spacing (a sixer, I think?) which is what inspired me to ask about headless.

When I spec’d my Zon in 2010 headless was an option but that’s where my budget ran out. Well, that and frets...

They are all black? And one is a Volume.
Oh, maybe you mean the lower right? I think that's just a lighting thing. And maybe that is the original Sadowsky knob so it's a little older. They are all the same color but that one might be a little less shiny.
I thought you might be asking why I wasn't able to justify ordering another one, despite my happiness with this one. No big secret, just that the wait would be an issue and while the communication was good when I had it, it was very sporadic.
