Not single coil, but the two custom basses Joe made for me that were passive he wired the SD pickups in parallel, close enough for the single coil sound but without the hum.
My Zon is active but has passive mode. Also, each of the 'buckers can be split to single coil. The versatility is great... but I'm a rock guy and most gig time is in active mode, all coils on.
Edit: I should add that the bartolini preamp is so transparent that it's hard to tell the difference between active and passive when EQ is flat. I'm still glad to have passive as an option (battery failure, if nothing else).

Just got a email and call from Zon HQ. This is on it’s way after a 2+yr wait. I called Joe directly, he told me many things that have been challenging for him and his team these past two years.
Definitely not here to gloat. I understand that people have their own personal experiences with Zon. I’m just posting to let the people know that have been waiting longer than me, that they’re still making and shipping out orders.

Are the pickups custom from Bartolini? And what is the ZB-5 preamp, I'm assuming this is not the polyfusion!!!!
Sorry for the late reply. Just got home from playing a wedding and took her out for a spin. Definitely getting used to it. I got her today and only got to play it for maybe 30 minutes before I had to go to the gig. FYI... I don’t recommend this for anybody. LOL
Not the plug and play that I’m typically used to having. Initial reactions by my band mates was great. I also thought it sounded really good in my IEM. I felt that the more I cranked the treble, the more it cut through the mix. It sounded better without the harshness that I’ve experienced with my other basses. I’m also usually gun shy to crank the treble. The bass knob was slightly up passed the detent. Very boomy room so it didn’t call for cranking the bass knob. Not the typical transparent/Un-colored sound that a lot of us associate with Barts. I felt it was a little more Hi-Fi compared to my prior experiences with them.
The preamp is also a Bartolini. They’re single/dual coil controlled by using the volume knob. It’s like pressing a button on a pedal. When the volume knob is down or engaged, they’re in dual coil mode. When it’s up/out it’s in single coil mode. This preamp is typically used in the VB-4 or VB-5 models.
As I mentioned on a prior post, Joe and his team have had a number of challenges for the past 2+years. Not only with their shop being forced to shut down multiple times because of government mandates but also with the wildfires they’ve had to endure. Oh yeah, they were also forced to move because their old landlord sold the building. The new owner made plans to make it a residential building and kicked out all of the existing tenants. They’ve also got CA suppliers (including Bartolini) that provide them with preamps/pickups and other suppliers that are going through similar situations. Truly a snowball effect.
All in all, I’m pleased with it. I know have to sit down and find out what settings really make her sing. But that’s part of the journey!

I did noticed my Zon bridge is different than the bridge on your Sonus, I wonder what kind of Zon bridge that is?
@LowEndGroover It sounds as thought you may have had the same reaction as I did when I got my Sonus Special a few years back. I liked the sound of it when played alone but it didn't really blow me away with a deep, 3D tone - I had come to it from a number of other exotic basses that had a really distinctive sound. I loved playing it, looking at it etc but when sat playing unaccompanied I was maybe just a tiny bit nonplussed. That all changed in a mix, where the Sonus just seems to sit nicely and do a great job. In the end, I wouldn't have changed the sound of that Sonus, it just took a few days to work out where it was best used.
