I don't have an issue... But you do mention your experience with them is limited, which is kinda reflected on your comments on them. To me, it just sounds like you're jumping on the bandwagon of Thunderbird haters, and list all the usual "wrongs" with Thunderbirds, that are in no way true and usually spread by haters that have never tried a Thunderbird...

However I could be wrong... ;)

I nodded my head in agreement when I read this but then got to thinking. In recent years with the quality of imports going up, I've been able to buy some pretty amazing basses for very little money (compared to the good ol days). It's been a crazy good time for bass players in terms of what you get for the price. I think we can expect things to be going up dramatically now that we're putting a tariff on imports from a number of countries that supply instruments. We may be going to be looking back on this time as the good ol days.

understood, but even within the same model there's bound to be a certain range of differences, personal experiences, and opinions, mentioning it is information from a pov some may not share. it's a big world and the manner in which you've taken my comment verges on condemnation and insult, so, please... neither the seller nor me found it to be as expected, he's rather a small guy and I'm not, yet we both had enuf negative takes to be less than overcome with total joy, but we're both still fans of the 'birds and in no way haters. despite enjoying my tankerous T-40 I'm preferring small and light these days, the 'birds are unquestionably a different breed and this one merely wasn't our cup o tea at the moment.

indeed, that's great! you earn your $$ for sure and no doubt could write a book on your job which might become a best seller ;) at least among a crowd like us, which is partly why the big trucks of awaiting joy have done so well. thanx for sharing your near-unique facts!

Got mine for $599. Is it worth $699? If you want one, yes. If you don't want one, no. I don't want a Fender P bass, so the cost of one matters little to me. These Epi T Bird Vintage Pro basses are a LOT of bass for that price, no matter how you slice it.

Here's a little secret: The Epi Embassy Vintage Pro bass sounds exactly the same and still goes for $399, probably the best bass on the market at that price. I got one of those too.

just seeing this makes me want one again!
but it's become impractical mainly due to that giant cool factor wing which wouldn't comport with comfort re my current retired playing regime consisting mostly of reclining in my lounger :) and jamming with youtube etc. this aspect is always a factor in my buying considerations these days, but there's no denying they look bitchin'!

About 2 1/2 years ago, I was in GC just playing in the "quiet room" and the salesman (who was a bass player) asked me how I did something so I gave him a mini lesson. After I finished, he offered me a Epi pro for $250 plus tax (No case) and I snapped it up. Great bass for the money. I don't know if its worth $700, but hell, they are selling Precisions for $2200 now in the same store.
