Oh crap! New Musicman Basses

To be honest... That Cutlass P is only a couple $100 more than an American Standard P and I think the difference in build quality is worth that. Those MM necks are worth the $. I'd probably pick up a used one in the $1000-$1200 range.

The white Caprice with maple neck sure looks pretty to me.

With musiciman's fantastic build quality these could be interesting basses. I'm always amazed at fantastic attention to detail and build quality of the musicman basses. I'll reserve judgement till I see these in person.

If the tone is there, and contoured neck heel and wheel truss rod adjustment feels right, I'm thinking the Caprice is a attractive.

Agreed. I'm not a big fan of non-Fender basses that look like Fenders. But there seem to be many many bassists who like that sort of thing so it makes me wonder what took the EBMM company so long to do it...or have they done so before?

I have long wanted a Passive P that is built and feels like a Music Man - what bums me is the choice to do these with the 7.5 vintage radius - I just much prefer the 11 radius of a Stingray - really...all i wanted was a Stingray or Bongo neck on a well built P....I was so excited to own a Classic Ray and just found the neck far less comfy...(mind you I like finished/painted necks and gloss...so grain of salt)

I am sure they know the market out there better and are confident the vintage neck spec was the way to go. Very glad to see the truss wheel remained....kind of Meh on the enlarged headstock....

true enough! I wonder if they will be interchangeable....(my guess is no as that sort of part swap/mod between models seems like something EBMM frowns on...)

I can say that Musicman is the BEST production bass company on the planet. Nobody does it better. They have the BEST quality hands down.

In all seriousness, though, my Stingray Classic is one of the best-built factory basses I've ever seen. Quality materials, excellent fit and finish, and it plays like a dream. If these new basses can cop the P and P/J sounds, they'll be worth the money!

Assuming you had to cut wood out of the body to make that work? I'd be so scared of doing that on a Ray
