I think that most (just IMO) start out on a classic 4-string Fender J or P. Then, some decide to go on a journey dicovering a whole new world of exciting and utterly expensive boutique basses - I know I did.
But somehow, most (again, IMO) end up playing a Fender in the end - I know I did...
I don't regret my journey one bit, though. I had some great times and adventures in the company of Celinder, Sadowsky, AC, MTD, Atelier Z, Lakland, Yamaha, Mørch, etc... (and to be honest, I still have some of them, but they just don' see so much action as they did back in the day...
