Who would possibly buy this? Bassist for a "Spinal Tap" tribute band? A friend of mine had one of the heads that he gigged with but it must have been modified because I'm fairly certain he wasn't pushing three cabs with it. For some reason a drummer I played with owned one of these cabs. I don't know if the driver was original, but I was not impressed with it. :rollno:

I had one of these with the cart and one cab. It was unbearable to move and it took me a very long time to sell it once the magic wore off. To get the full power you had to have a 4 ohm load into each of the three taps. I ran it once with the folded horn and a 2x15 cab using two of the three taps. I've never heard a louder amp.

I'd take a 300PS over a 400PS any day. From what I understand they're much easier for a tech to work on.

I keep wondering what a Tele through 6 Greenback loaded stacks would be like, from far enough away. I have not shared this thought with any guitarists.

I was told by Rich Koerner that patching the 2 channels together would result in them being out of phase and not sound very good, so I never tried it. I usually use the guitar channel. The bass channel sounds good, but in a decidedly meaty, vintage way. This wouldn't work for all of the songs my band plays, where the guitar channel's clean, clear tone does. It's awesome for our 5 string stuff (ADGCF), surprisingly. My fretless likes a little of that nice Fender reverb too. Took a while to find portable, loud, great sounding cabs but once I did I was happy. I don't think the 300PS is quite the odd duck the 400PS is. I'm a bit terrified of the day it needs servicing again, the tech that set it up is out of business and no techs in my area can even handle changing a 12AX7.

Well, I gigged the Acoustic 360 for about 5 years; and that was a slamming rig for me. I thought it was ultra flexible. The thing was actually biamped; so you could add a 4x8 cab for more highs with a 6 string. Otherwise just oh full range through the 18 with the 4. I dug it. Sorry for the derail. I have no doubt that 400 PS rig would be quite amazing.

Played it once through 2 Ampeg 8X10's (stacked horizontally) and a V4B cab next to it (vertical).
Mud, but in a good sense. The closest I ever got to producing the "Brown Note".

My band (sans roadies) told me they would arrange a "full neutering" by a local veterinarian if I even considered using that configuration on a regular basis.

Cooler minds prevailed...

So...

Really rare as a set, on loan to the Fender Museum...

Owner wants to sell, on the bay for a long time...

Apparently even Fender does not think it is worth much other than to look at, on loan, as long as someone else moves it around...
