I've got the exact same bass. I bought it back in 1981 and have had it since. I went into the store intent on buying a Rickenbacker. They guy in the store said "Play the Rick. Then play the Daion, then go back to the Rick". There was no comparison. The Rickenbacker felt like trying to play a 2X4 after the Daion. I put EMGs in it about 1983 or so. I love the guitar, but it's heavier than I want to play for a full gig these days. It's worth about twice what I paid for it back in the day.

Hidden jack/input guitar socket, never seen , very good idea, does it work well?Nearly as pretty as mine!(Congrats, great bass!)

I don't have one, but a friend of mine in Australia had one in silver. It's the only one I've ever seen, though.
It works great but only with certain cords. Angled plugs and some straight plugs are just too wide to fit.

I’d definitely like to pick up one if those Basses sometime when I come across one at the right price. I’ve got a Daion acoustic guitar from the same timeframe that’s just excellent!
