Double Bass OK, HELP!

Ken Smith is an aquired taste, not for everyone. Especially those with a thin skin. But he is a straight shooter, honest and very smart. His opinion, however strident, is something of value. He also makes one of the most beautiful and artistic instruments I have seen and while I'm an idiot in most circumstances I am eminently qualified in this view.

Over the years, I've had my share of disagreements with Ken Smith. I'm sure that Ken enjoys the give and take of a good intellectual discussion as much as I do. Even though Ken and I disagree on many things, I have the greatest respect for him and the knowledge he brings to the table. He is an asset to this forum.

Unfortunately, there appear to be certain individuals who seem to think that Ken or me or any of the other luthiers have a duty to share our knowledge with the them rather than acknowledging and respecting the fact that we all choose to share what we know.

Jeff, if he restored his Bass correctly this fast, maybe he's the kind of assistant you've been looking for..

It would have been much much better with progress pics along the way, don't ya think? I mean really, how can we really know what the Bass needed or how he fixed it by just his verbal decriptions?

And Jeff, that aquired taste comment, it took me several visits to Arnolds before he would have lunch with me. Some poor excuse like he was busy working and his wife made lunch.. Yeah right, like I bought that..lol So, seems that was similar to your excuse as well the two times I visited you..

Tuff crowd here. Gotta know the 'animal' before you can 'pet' it. Most just bark and never bite but some just bite and never bark..

I'm not sure what would best describe the level of maturity here, but instead of additional insults, I suggest you read back over your last few posts. And, THEN tell me again why I would continue wasting time here??

I did finish and it turned out nicely. Could I have done more? Perhaps but at least it's nicely playable again. Actually has a real nice open loose vibe.

If y'all spent as much time discussing content as belittling and insulting, YOU might learn something.

I think we've had enough in that thread now.
Nothing valuable came from it recently.
Time to do something else.

As a conclusion: let me tell you pnchad didn't renew his Golden Membership Subscription.
We take this seriously on this side of the board.

This is not the first member that leaves with bitterness.
Watch for some new guidelines here on the DB forums in the coming weeks.
As an aside, the new BB software now supports some kind of member score. Infractions will result in increased score.
And actions will be taken accordingly.
