Has anyone tried the 12" Mesa Cab with the 15" cab? In the videos on line...........they stacked the cabs (15 x 2, 12 x2) but I didn't see a 15 on the bottom., and a 12 on top. The 15 cab is rated @ 400 W @ 8 ohms, and the 12 is rated @ 300 W @ 8 ohms.
The 12" cabinet is rated at 400 watts "RMS" thermal and 385 watts "RMS" mechanical.

There's a lot of folks here on TB that have the 15 and 12 combination, most seem to prefer (as I would expect) the 15 on the bottom and the 12 on the top.

Them ain't D Class
I've run my MBF500 on an 810 cab, and there was absolutely nothing wrong with that.I guess "if you have to have a physically large amp" then the whole D Class isn't for you

A micro head on a full-size cab is much like a full-size head extending beyond the sides of a micro cab... odd. Yeah, it works and all, but the two different forms factors trigger my OCD like crazy.

But all this is like, just my opinion, man. :-) No offense meant to anyone.

I see the OP went with the Mesa, which is an excellent choice.

Those reports were of the early versions of the PF500, and have long since been rectified. The PF800 came after the bugs were worked out of the 500's and have an excellent record.

The percentages of failures in the PF-500's were actually not very high considering it was the best selling bass amp in the country. Percentages were no different than other companies.
My PF800 died within an hour.

Mesa does not allow dealers to discount.
Incorrect, according to Mesa.

We don't prescribe to the nebulous game of retail pricing, meaning applying an over-inflated "suggested retail price" with the intent of giving our shared customers the false impression that they are getting some sort of "individually" special deal that is dependent upon negotiating or special timing. We feel that such pricing games are inappropriate and degrading to the integrity of our product, as well as demeaning to our customers' intelligence!

Instead we set a price that takes into account the actual value of the product.

Here are the first few paragraphs of the letter Mesa sends to its retailers explaining their pricing program:

"Explaining the Benefits of Mesa/Boogie’s Suggested Pro Net Pricing Philosophy:

The first step is to NEVER refer to it as Retail Pricing
The second step is to NEVER say there is no discounting on Mesa/Boogie Products because Mesa sets the price or restricts what a Dealer can sell the product for
Both of these statements are completely inaccurate (the second being grossly inaccurate and actually illegal) and you will do your customer, yourself and us a great disservice if you misrepresent the facts in such ways.

Mesa’s Pro Net Pricing is and always has been a suggested selling pricing that is completely voluntary and at the Dealer’s sole and absolute discretion in terms of what the Dealer elects the final selling price to be – This is without exception or any recourse from Mesa. Representing it in any other way to a customer is actually a violation of the terms set forth in the current Mesa/Boogie Dealership Agreement."

Dealers can charge whatever they want - however, our ProNet pricing structure eliminates the use of an inflated MSRP vs Street pricing structure.

The Subway 15 + 12 is a pretty common setup for the Mesa's, check out the Mesa D800 thread. And, both cabinets are rated for 400 watts RMS.

As a retired repair tech, I worked on many amps from multiple manufacturers that died or were dead from the factory...including Fender, GK and others. One amp failing (and I'd like to know the reason) doesn't condemn a whole series or company. I can find lots of reports of failures of GK's on Talkbass, and I know of others.

With electronic components there can be failures for no particular reason. All parts have a working life, and nothign is perfect. Every amp that goes down, worked before that. I had a career dealing with amps, guitars, basses, effects etc that quit working going back to 1980.

Kudos to GK who moved a good deal of their production back to the USA.

Kudos to MESA who never left in the first place. The most important notice on the back of my D800 says "Made in Petaluma CA USA."

It's my understanding the GK move ALL production back to the USA.
Any issues I've had with their gear, they've always taken care of.

Mesa=yessir. Great company as well.
