Double Bass OK, legit players...please help me out here.

I'm looking at music for an upcoming show, and I see "la meta" indicated in the part.
My Oxford Dictionary of Musical Terms is in storage, and Google is no help.

I can only assume (since further down the page, the basses are Tutti) that this means that this is to either be played as a solo, or by only part of the full section.

Have you ever seen this? I haven't.

In all my years I've never seen it before but I have an inkling that it means to play Pizzicato and the notes of half the notated value. Italian translations "the half".

Normally it would mean half the section plays. If you don’t have a full section of players (7+), you can consider the indication optional.
