yeah but that's a heavy SS head, not really a trendy class D and if you were in Canada you'd still likely be able to get more for it and on top of that, throw in the exchange rate.

Actually all day today I've been kicking around the idea of selling all of my amps and cabs and starting over with the new WD800 and SW215.

Those amps and cabs include a D-180, 400 non+, BB800, MB Fusion 500, Hartke LH500, kappalite loaded Diesel 215, Mesa 1516, GB NeoX 212, A home built kappa 215, two kappa loaded 112s, and an old Hartke 115 w/ an E-140. It's a big decision and no other gear has made me consider it until now.

I'm personally not sure of what your basis is but I disagree. I think for USA made (for those of us that care) it's a priced quite fairly for what they offer. They're slightly less than what some would consider custom boutique brands and more expensive than other mass produced overseas made products. If you're comparing options, power output or anything related to what the amp can do to other class D, even with a tube preamp, then I can understand where you're coming from.

I go by build quality and the ability to stand behind their product with a transferable 5 year warranty and if you live in the states, not really a far shipment for repair. I value this statement to the point where it is worth the money to me. I loved my markbass and still love their tone, but when I needed warranty repair and had to send it to Italy I had sticker shock at the cost of shipping it. Wasn't worth it. Not trying to knock another brand but I think of these things in regards to my purchases.

Just my opinion of how I look at things, not trying to argue, just want to know the basis of your point.

Also the manual clearly states that it uses MOSFET, not clearly stated on the website.

well, I'm probably one of those who said at least something like this.

Of course, in the mean time I have purchased a Demeter VTBP-M-800DJ and a Subway D800+, and I still have my beloved Walkabout, so there's all that to consider.

Since I try very hard not to buy gear I have not tried out personally, even Mesa gear, this will not be a pre-order for me. I'll likely wait until they are actually available to ship which I think is in Jan sometime.

I have been thinking about clearing out some of my less-used gear for a few months now, and my gear fund is definitely healthy, so between all the goodness I have been reading about the WD-800, and my ability to buy one, I am definitely considering getting in the line that I'm sure is forming as we speak.

Andy had hinted that something was coming that would make original WA users happy. As has been said many times already, its really great to have him and other Mesa folks participate with the TB community. It's particularly cool that Andy and Mesa took so much input from the TB community, and I presume other bass players too, to design and produce the Subway family of amps and cabs. I have been a Mesa fan for a while now, and this just reaffirms my positive perspective on the company.

I think bassboysam is one of our Canadian bass playing brothers, and so he is faced with non-US pricing for Mesa gear which can get pretty out of hand. The US price for the Subway gear is really very attractive, running from $799 for the D800 to an est $999 for the WD-800. But over the years there have been lots of comments from non US TB members on the expense of buying Mesa outside the States.

I saw Canada on his avatar but I'm definitely unaware of outside the states. Makes perfect sense from things I have read on TB though. Hopefully my comment comes across from a US prospective since that's what I was trying to imply. I completely understand the exchange rate piece since I was looking for Barefaced cabs and got lucky finding some lightly used ones on TB without actually waiting forever for them to pop up.

Correct, and these ears will be backwards compatible to all the existing Walkabouts too. Ear kits should be shipping sometime in early January if not sooner.

Forgeign pricing is just the currency exchange rate difference plus any additional VAT/fees a country may impose. Shipping too, if applicable. It's the same for all gear, not just Mesa.

they missed me by about 6 months and I bought something else. I suspect this amp will get me through 10 years like my last amp purchase.
I have been playing class D since 2007 or so.
