old "Let's buy a wish" thread

I thought the way this thread was going early on that we would have OVER the number we really needed to get this thing done.
Come on guys...$10 Paypal to Hambone and we'll figure out a path to send it around the country without costing us all a fortune. Plus you get it for a few days/week and play it at a gig(if you chose) or in church or whatever, make a quick review and get it off to the next one on the list.
*plus you get to sign your name on it( The TalkBass Wish) before it's auctioned off for charity or drawn for a winner from one of us.

Hambone: I say if we don't have enough by the end of this next week we can the idea? Thoughts? This threads been going for a while now.

Sort-of like the people who say they'll come to a gig vs. those who actually do.

Not sure if I, as a poster in the thread, was ever counted as a potential purchase participant, but for the record I am not. Wouldn't be practical for me.

BTW, one of the reasons that Paypal works so well here is that I can easily return your donation via the service. But if a check is the way to go for you then bring it on!

I've responded within hours to everyone that's asked for directions. There've been about 20 inquiries. The problem isn't on this end :rolleyes:

JMO, but I think we need to set a cut-off date so you're not just hangin' out there waiting. Maybe if we don't have what we need by ? Mar 21st? we just donate what we have to charity and close the thread?

come on guys...this could be a fun thing to do--plus there's no time limit on how long we mess around with the bass. we could pass thing around for a year, posting updates, and "showing" it off to all your friends! (that was sarcasm if you didn't catch it). Then draw a name for someone to keep it, or for us to sell it and donate the $$ to something we choose.

Because we wanted to commission our own is basically what it comes down to. Who know's if plans will change.
