Well I finally had the infamous breakage of the Oliv G happen, but not due to weather. I was playing at mead bar in downtown Santa Barbara this weekend and during my break, some dude who was absolutely hammered came stumbling in and knocked my bass over. My bass was fine asides from the bridge being knocked out of position. He bolted right away though. However I didn't notice until yesterday when I was re-aligning my bridge that my Oliv G was dented and the winding was busted right on the part of the string that rests in the bridge slot. The string is still holding it's tuning for now, but I think I'm gonna take it off and put back on Spirocore G for now cause I have some chamber music concerts coming up and don't want to deal with the possibility of a gut string giving out during the concert. It's a shame though cause once that Oliv G broke in, my bass sounded spectacular and I was fully getting the sound I hear in my head. I'm going to save up for a bit though to get another and possibly an Oliv D to go with it too cause I'm curious about it.
