Double Bass Olive G lovefest

Yes, the wrapped guts were taking over too much! The only reason I ordered the oliv's was to just give them a try and see what they sound like. I might put them on my second bass with A&E spiros, and keep my main bass with guts. I'm just not sure why with an amp they sound so muted.

I finally took the plunge on the Oliv G. I'm really happy with my D,A & E Spiro Mittels but the G isn't always working for me; Somedays I like it, soomedays I find it lacking so I have an Oliv G coming my way. A few questions:

It comes with two felt washers. Do you use them both? only one? none? ...and why?
Any advice about how to install it and/or how to take care of it?

Thanks in advance.

Since I started this thread i hope you don't mind if I clear up any misunderstanding regarding the washers. They are provided to remove any unwanted resonances. In other words, to provide a 'cleaner' tone.

I'm settling into a low maintenance setup and expect to maintain this for the foreseeable future. Spirocores on my Kay are making my life easier. No more tuning issues. Unexpectedly, the Spirocore G sound is pretty meaty on this bass and I don't miss the Oliv at all.
